Ladies and Gentlemen it's official, Crawford/Gamboa is the FOTY for 2014 so far. fukk a Guerreo/Ippo fight. Ditto for the Machine and Molina. It had everything you can want.

One thing I gotta say. Manny, Provo, and Maidana types (big punchers that start out fast) might be the kryptonite for Crawford. If you can really hurt him or knock him down early multiple times you have the best chance at beating him. Dude is a slow starter, but he eventually figures you out after 4 or 5 rounds. It happened in the Burns fight and the same shyt transpired in the Gamboa fight so it's pretty much confirmed for my eyes. You gotta stop him from staying composed. He's similar to Calzaghe in regards to once you let them catch their stride its hard to stop them.
As far as Gamboa, I don't think he needs to move down. He's like Broner meaning that he can still hurt and compete with bigger guys it;s just that he has to adjust his boxing style. All that jumping in walking dudes down with power shots will only work against bigger guys that aren't durable or skilled enough to persevere through that aggression. Great fight nonetheless.
I think Broner/Crawford is 50/50 and I'd pick Broner to win that. His offense is still intimidating when he sits down and lets his hands go. There's a reason why Burns risked fights against Beltran and Crawford and not Broner. Broner/Crawford should be the next fight for both dudes, but due to politics we'll prolly never see it. Ditto for Broner/Rios which would have been a big fight too at one time.

yeah I know that. gamboa knew he was losing,so he had to be more aggressive . what im saying is that he should have stood by his gameplan on the outside even though he was getting outboxed a bit.
when he came forward swinging wildly he really set himself up for 100% guaranteed failure.

Gamboa's speed was giving Crawford the flux in the first couple rounds. Caught wit some clean shots but Crawford ate them shyts like scooby snacks.

Seeing Gamboa fight early, he would have given Mikey a lot of problems. I agree in that the advantages Crawford had over Gamboa, Mikey doesn't.
Mikey isn't naturally as big or has the speed of Crawford. Mikey has good footwork and technique, but he can be low output, naturally doesn't look to carry as much weight, and isn't very fast. Mikey-Gamboa would start off much the same way with Gamboa winning all the early rounds and Mikey having to real him in. Don't think he could do it nearly as easily. Would be a good scrap and still want to see it.
Gamboa likes to admire his work and gets lazy with his defense, nullifying a lot of his skill advantages. When I watch him I just want to yell at him to stay focused for the whole round.
Great fight and deserves to be a top FOTY candidate with Molina-Matthysse.
