i take nothing away from crawford's performance it was only a 7 pound weight difference between him and gamboa but gaining 17 lbs overnight should be a red flag for him..if chris algieri knew whats good he needs to become a nutritionist for these boxers on the side once he's done fighting..show them how to lose and make weight correctly...he'd make a great living
Algieri looked in perfect shape at 140. Dude could make a big impact on his career just through nutrition and making weight, looking totally healthy doing it.

Crawford looked like Christian Bale in Rescue Dawn at the weigh in.

I dont think it was all that bad though, Crawford's weight. He fought as a Junior Middleweight vs a Welterweight (Gamboa was 145)

I wish they would have to fight at their natural weights though or go back to same day weigh ins. Even do the 10 lb max rehydration like the IBF already does.

Its fukked up... Same shyt happened to Lomenchenko when he fought Salido coming in the ring as a welterweight for the featherweight title :dahell:
Not quite. Salido blatantly failed to make weight at all in order to have that insane advantage on fight night so he could get one last quality W under his belt. I think there's ways to regulate it without having to do what you guys are suggesting. If a guy is willing to cut to make weight and bulk up before the fight, then so be it. For all that JCC Jr cruiserweight shyt, he couldn't beat the legit MW champ, a natural 154 lb fighter.

It was a huge problem when Floyd pulled that move on JMM. But with these huge weight penalties and rehydration clauses that people are smart enough to negotiate, they should be fine. If all the greats before got to do it, then why not now. Guys stacked up belts in lower divisions when they KNEW they were too big. If they change the rules, then how can a guy be a 3,4, or 5 division champ? Let Crawford cook and he'll eventually settle into his natural weight class, where the killers are waiting…:demonic:

I mostly agree with what you're saying breh, except that up until the mid 80s, fighters still had same day weigh ins.

The fighters of the early 80s and earlier didn't get to rehydrate like they do today.

I don't think ANY fighter should be allowed to enter the ring at 10+ lbs over the division they are supposed to be fighting in:manny:

I love the IBF's rule.

ESPN is reporting that Golden Boy Promotions has terminated deputy COO Armando Gaytan, executive vice president Raul Jaimes and vice president of marketing Nicole Sparks. All were close with former Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, who left the company on bad terms in early June.
