they arent scared of anyone but still I dont like this move by his handlers or by anyone else for that matter. really, if you cant make weight, there isnt any point in holding on to those titles. yeah, I know it brings some marketability, but you dont get ready for WWs by fighting JWWs 2 lbs over the limit. so I agree with you that they may have well gotten a low/unranked WW if they were gonna fool around with an unranked JWW
Indeed that is true..but as floyd is linked to al haynon, and Al has signed some management deal with these fighters, who will fight on what promotion in the future? For example, amir has signed a management deal with Al but is fighting on goldenboy, i hope they Floyd/Al and goldenboy will continue to work along with eachother.Doesn't floyd need to co promote with gbp if he fights golden boy fighters?
mayweather promotions should go and sign rigo right now

If they weren't they would just make a fight with callazo or something. God forbid he fight somebody like Alexander. shyt I'll even take a Kahn rematch.they arent scared of anyone but still I dont like this move by his handlers or by anyone else for that matter. really, if you cant make weight, there isnt any point in holding on to those titles. yeah, I know it brings some marketability, but you dont get ready for WWs by fighting JWWs 2 lbs over the limit. so I agree with you that they may have well gotten a low/unranked WW if they were gonna fool around with an unranked JWW
This has nothing to do with getting ready for 147. This is all about fighting a tuneup in a meaningless fight. The organizations won't sanction the bout anyway, so why bother going through the grind of making 140? This is very common in boxing
I'm gonna use an example using the most popular fighter in boxing. Although different a different scenario, the intentions are the same.
Mayweather himself did this. He was the WBC Champ at 130. He fought Augustus in a tuneup in a non title fight at 135 (before the Corrales fight), then immediately went back down to his weight class. The difference there though is that he fought Augustus at a completely different weight class, as opposed to CW . The intentions are still the same. You get a tuneup in a meaningless fight without having to go through the grind of making weight. It's not like the WBC would have sanctioned a bout against Augustus, a guy that had a lot of losses anyway, so why bother fighting at 130.
I just think it's silly for anyone to believe that Garcia is preparing for 147 by having a catchweight fight at 142. They are just trying to get a fight in. He'll most likely be at 140 in his very next fight
I understand where your coming from. Your basically saying nygga pick a weight class
probably so. I also think May vs Pac is getting legs again.

fukk outta here with this 142 shyt. I knew he couldn't make weight 2 fights ago.
is that what the surprise is? Floyd fighting manny under his own promo company?
Another thing I want to add is if your a world class fighter in this era, there shouldn't be tuneups unless you got knocked out (or beat down) in your prior fight. That tuneup shyt is over. You only fight once or twice a year. It's a waste of the fight. If a guy like Victor Ortiz came back & had a tuneup, I think we can all agree that would be fine.
If these guys where fighting 4-5 times a year, a tuneup is perfectly fine. The reality is those days are over.
I also believe this 1-2 times a year shyt hurts the quality of the product, because these guys aren't active, but these nyggas just have to make sure their training camp is on point to deal with the inactivity.
I do prefer the 4-5 fights a year era. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching fighters work the rust off
