been putting in so much work since my last post here...i stopped fukking with Chinese suppliers completely....all my suppliers are in the U.S. now and i get 2-3 day shipping on all my items with access to way better brands....that was a goal of mine so im extremely happy about that...im a legit wholesaler and distributor now...registered with the state and everything months ago but i just recently i got plugged with a trucking company that has pallets of discontinued and overstocked products from a lot of the major retailers like Walmart, K-Mart, Sears, Target etc so they give me a base price, i mark it up however much i want and when a customer pays me, i pay them and they do a blind shipment from their warehouse to the customer

im negotiating with a jewelry manufacturer now to dropship for me so that i can sell on Etsy...they initially said no but offered me the opportunity to be a distributor for them if i placed a minimum order of $1000...i said yes to that but doubled down and offered them $3-5 on every order if they shipped single quantities for me...im waiting on their response now......WORK

now i understand when OGs say "conversation rules the nation"

@Jay Darko you dropped a ton of good and interesting information. Couple questions if you have a moment:

So essentially you create these dropshipping online stores housing niche product that you/your team vetted as potentially viable for sales. You sell us these pre-made online stores/website and it is then our responsibility as the new owner to fund the ads and promotion to get traffic/views from potential buyers to check out the store and buy something.

If something is bought, then this pre-made store also has contact information to the supplier that we have to purchase the product from and have them then ship to the customer? Or how does that work? If someone buys, say, a key chain from our site for 10 bucks, we as the owner then go to the supplyer and purchase that key chain for it's actual price (say, 2 bucks) and once we buy it, who actually ships it to the customer? Or what is the 300 a week thing the other poster was talking about?

Also, is you/your team getting a cut of the sales we make in what we sell?

Thanks breh

@Jay Darko in all these posts in the different threads not once you could have let people known that you can't use a debit card to make your online store go live? That you need a credit card?

Now i gotta wait to get my paypal debit card and see if that will work

And i think i found some great niches too but i gotta deal with this bullshyt

how did you not mention that once?

So my store is ready and i think i have a couple nice niches that could work. I found out some of the niches from a nice reputable dude on Youtube that dropped game, and he even mentioned one that got him thousands. He also last week had a free webinar for like an hour where he gave more game.

My thing is though designing. I have a store name but first of all i need a logo and i'm confused about the whole text layering thing in the store

and secondly with driving traffic. i was gonna try and do it myself but i don't trust myself with getting traffic with the facebook ad i wanted to try people who are the best at it.

im confident about the one or two niches i have i just wanna focus on the promo now

obviously ill use Fiverr but what i wanted to know is if any of you know someone in particular on fiverr...a specific fiverr user who you would recommend? my max budget is $5...yes $5 the minimum they offer. because i'm broke now and i gotta make more before i start spending more

For the people that are making a somewhat steady income from this, about how much was your initial investment?

Well it depends on product and to be honest, you can get started with as much or little as you want. The devil is in the details.

First, what is more important than what you sell is how you sell it. What is your target market and how will you reach them and appeal to them? That drives your revenue so in the end, everything else is secondary.

There are three major costs you need to account for besides the typical incorporation and other costs: buying inventory (working capital), marketing expenses, and keeping shipping costs as low as possible.

If you are distributing typical products (name brand or easily available stuff) you need to budget high on marketing and efficient shipping. The reason is that you will have a lot of competition or even if you don't, the competition will come if you are successful. People monitor these platforms (Amazon, Ebay, Alibaba) for successful products they can compete against (lowering all margins). A private label or hard to replicate product is best to fend of competition but it depends on what you are willing to do since that takes more up front costs for design, equipment, etc.

To get your product visible and in the Buy Box or whatever you need to spend money on advertising and marketing to make your name more prominent. This can cost a lot of cash up front depending on what you are doing. Your margins will be lower with typical products too so research packaging and shipment options to find out what the most cost effective is. Shipping is a major cost of dropshipping and can eat your profits quick.

I would say starting out, $4-6k could allow you to tackle specific products spending $1-2k on efficient marketing. Make a business plan and think before hand to try to ensure success.
