The more I read by Al Ewing the more he seems like one of those writers who absolutely gets how comics work, but might just be lacking the raw talent to ever write something truly great.
I agree. People may not always agree with their style and character bias (I sure as hell don't) but you can look at Hickman's East of West, Bendis's Alias, Morrison's work, Geoff John's GL and JSA run, etc... and you can see the raw talent and energy.
Ultimates 1 & 2 were brilliantly cohesive, plot-oriented issues... but frankly, you'd find the characters a bit flat if you didn't come in with a pre-set bias for them. BP saying 'America would just hold us back" i think was supposed to be a daring/edgy moment... but it really isn't anything new. Or, instead of BM telling us via dry monologue that he's very old and conservative, how about a semi-heated argument with CM that shows us w/o 'telling' us. And despite the argument, how bout some sexual tension.
Hell, the first 3 pages of #1 was just rabble rabble by Adam... insightful nergadism stuff sure... but a one page summary would've been just fine. Its why I feel, altho early, he's gotta spice things up with the cast. There's no sex appeal or chemistry.

Did they retcon Bruce taking that L to Bane??? Because if they're just now finding out that Jean Paul Valley is Azrael, then that means he was never the backup Batman after the events of KnightFall. And if he was never the backup, then Knightfall, KnightsEnd, and KnightQuest never happened, so why exactly is Bane even a threat now???

wtf was supposed to be happening in batman europa? the art was so abstract i couldnt figure out what was going on, damn shame, its batman and joker in paris

Yeah, the art was trash. I guess it was supposed to illustrate how badly Bats was hallucinating but it just looked like crap and made the issue unreadable.
