Even though it doesn't make much sense to have 2 Spider-Men in the same universe, if they give Miles a new name, it will feel like a demotion. Out of all of the :mjpls: type complaints about Marvel forcing diversity, and race-bending their favorite heroes that the cacs have, Miles and Kamela Khan are the only ones that they're cool with. it would be like a step backwards to take the Spider-Man mantle away from Miles.
I have mixed feelings about that. I don't like two characters with the same name/identity running around the same universe.

I want Bendis to leave the book and I actually don't know how I feel about Miles having a different name (if we're being honest, we refer to him more so as "Miles" than we do Spider-Man.r).

But I don't want any of these changes to occur at least until Miles movie comes out. I feel it's all about timing, and the elephant in the room for him has always been whether Miles can stand on his own two feet without the Bendis effect of having an A-list writer/A-list artist since his inception.

Bendis needs to go away as I think he's run out of stories to tell for Miles but I want to retain the status quo just a little bit longer until Miles movie debuts and is, hopefully, Lego Batman level success where he's firmly in the public eye as mainstream. At that point, relaunch his solo with a different creative team (and maybe codename.. I'm still on the fence), and use the movie as a booster.

Would you guys say Miles ceiling is being the Nightwing to Peter Parker's Batman?

I'm talking about in a perfect situation from here on out where Miles character and storytelling potential is maximized.

i.e. Nightwing was never "Batman" popular but he has a very solid fanbase and is arguably the most popular/adored Batman mytho character after Batman himself.

Or could Miles break through that ceiling and be higher?
