You can't just think dialogue when writing. It took smarts to write that action, it all starts on the page. Plus I think it really resonated with voters because it was a resolution to a long act in the story in that episode.Revenge for the Starks. And the fall of Ramsay and the Boltons. Emmy voters should judge just the episode nominated, but I think they take into consideration bigger story lines sometimes.

The Door and Winds of Winter still are superior under that criteria

The writing wasn't all that good in that episode man. I mean....it wasn't wack or anything but I'm at an episode with a $10+ million battle at it's centerpiece winning for writing. Especially when they had better written episodes to submit.
