Not having Sancet was a big deal, but as someone that watches a lot of La Liga, I never really feared Athletic over two legs.
They are a team hard to beat but their attack isn’t all that potent, especially with Sancet out.
Valverde is over performing with this squad. Had United not been in EL I was rooting for them to go all the way.
At least they’ll be back in UCL next season and will likely play in the Supercoppa next season, too.

Yeah, missing Sancet definitely hurt and they lacked ideas going forward since Nico’s been a bit underwhelming too. Lots of pace, but not much end product lately.
Still, Valverde’s done a solid job, I dont think he'll win you titles but he'll make teams complete. Let’s see if they can level up next season.
