I would somewhat agree about Liverpool having better CM's at the time when they one it, but Chelsea nah, in the CM only Ramires and maybe Lampard, but he's on the decline now, Essien, Mikel and Meireles, no, though both Mikel and Meireles played far better than their actual overall ability during the champions league winning run.

Just finished reading Jonathan Wilson's book on Eastern European Football and it took me a while to finish because all the random names and cities and teams and problems just started blending together.
This team was the army team and this team was the people's team and there was corruption and the army general got killed so his team started to slide and the Soviet Cup Final of 1973 and Armenia's/Georgia's/Hungary's great (team) of (year) and Russian oligarchs and Soviet politics and the war stopped the league and dusty undeveloped roads and the match had to be replayed after allegations and this team changed names 3 times and everyone has a bunch of money problems.
All the smaller countries had their golden era to remember forever, Yugoslavian and Soviet football was fukking amazing back then, and the post-Communist split/Balkan Wars broke apart the structure and as a result absolutely everyone is struggling without government support and most leagues are much smaller and insignificant now.
Nice little stories to read though, even if I remember fukk all afterward.
