He's still only 26. Give him some grace to adapt to Ancelotti’s 4-3-3, where he’s shoehorned into a #9 role, not his natural left-wing hybrid position. This shift curbs his ability to exploit wide channels and run at defenders, while Real’s midfield lacks the control to consistently feed his runs.

When he does play from the left channel he slows the play down. Over complicates actions by taking too many touches trying to twist and turn and then the defenders close the space down. It's all fine and well when he can play 1v1 or in transitions where he looks at his most spectacular level but playing for Real and France the majority of games you're going to have most of the possession and trying to break down low blocks.

And put who at LB? Zionchenko? :hhh:

Timber or the Italian Horse.

PSG wings could give MLS nightmares and he has shown he can loses his head when flustered. See the PSV game. To combat the PSG type wingers you need to be physical. Also MLS mobility helps against PSG's Portuguese midgets in midfield. Also the the left footed angle MLS would generate from midfield helps out Martinelli to run onto through balls. What he has missed since Xhaka left.

PSGs speed worries me more than anything. But we also have enough to trouble them, we’re a better defensive side than they are. But they’ll get their moments. If we can get past them man, I think we can do it :lupe:

Kvaratskhelia is the danger man. He adds a level of dynamism that they didn't have in the group stage. But their back line is still suspect defensively.

They almost have to play them exactly how they played Madrid. Soak up pressure, win the midfield and win your 1v1s on the wing.
