Apart from Saka? What other credits does Emery deserve that Arteta built upon?
That alone deserves credit for getting him into the team and letting him develop. Arteta immediately comes in and buys Willian :mjlol:

Oversaw Saliba transfer, who again Arteta was forced into playing.

But he got us to a Europa League final, got us disciplined playing a more possession based style building from the back again post Wenger, we were pragmatic trying to right the ship defensively due to the squad. I mean Arsenal was a mess when he came in. Had this fraudulent team on a 20 game unbeaten run or something like that in the league. He had his faults and I was ok with his dismissal but the behind the scenes work he did to get things on track definitely helped Arteta.

I mean, the FA Cup was Emerys team. Arteta almost got fired but ESR saved him and then he proceeded to bush the young breh :russ: No one ever talks about that. We weren’t winning shyt, Chelsea would’ve been the nail in the coffin and ESR came in the team and shyt on them. Rest is history

200 mill in fukking January and I don’t expect them to stop in the summer either. Anyone acting like Arsenal is on some linear path to a trophy is STILL just blindly optimistic. It gets harder every year. The years where the path is clear for us we shoot ourselves in the foot. When Leicester won the league we bought Cech in the summer and nothing the following January when we were short. De ja Vu

My predictions for the season are that we most likely buy some decent targets but Havertz will get as much game time as possible in unideal positions and it will continue to cost us fluidity and tactical flexibility

How much in the summer tho? What's the net spend?

An epidemic of excuses seems to be going around. If Money = winning Arteta woulda fukked around and won something by now.

come on breh :comeon:

That wasn’t even an excuse it’s fact you spent that much and will probably spend as much again next window. You can’t ignore the positive correlation between money and success.

Arteta has been backed and yes we’ve gotten a lot better :krs:

We havent spent anywhere what you lot have, we need more to get even better

This is the difference, not no 200m spent in January. Declan can go on TV and parrot off excuses, Saka can miss sitters like Sterling and it's OK, you don't hold yourselves accountable and your media friends won't either.

How much did Inter spend? PSG spent less than they ever have. It's mentality and these guys are LOSERS. The choice is yours as a fan if you want to join in the excuses Partey.

Of course there is a correlation but it's not the end all be all. Just look at United. Arsenal's best hope is to see where they were deficient and address it, instead of Arteta saying they were the better team.

Listen, it’s one thing to make excuses but two things can both be true at once. Declan has come out and said we haven’t been good enough.

PSG bought a 70 m winger in January and I guarantee their wage bill looks nothing like ours. PSG deserves credit for good coaching and recruitment but Arsenal isn’t on that level financially.

The only teams level on PSG financially are City and Newcastle

And Newcastle are doing everything the correct way and by the books
It's going to take them a long time before they become a power house like City have become
Probably about 3 times as long as it took City

And as they have already got to a final and lost ( no one wins it in their first final) it's hopefully PSG time

Mbappe must be sitting at home thinking why did I move.. but then if he stayed would they be in the final
They are a better team now without him and the other superstars
Ehhh, Mbappe got a CL final and two semis with PSG, he scored in semis, quarters and R16s so IMO, he delivered somehow. The only thing one can take against him is that flabby shot against Neuer in the final which he should have buried.

The relationship with Nasser the last 3 years was in the gutter, he couldn't continue there. And really he was bound for Real in 2022 but Macron pressed him to stay at PSG.

Also they should have gone to the final last year against BVB but they couldn't score. They went goalless on like 5 xG (!!!) and they hit the posts 6 times across the two legs, which can only be explained by dark voodoo shyt going on :russ:

That said, I agree that the team is now better and more complete. Enrique needs a team of players without big egos and also forwards who press and do their defensive duties and Mbappe don't. It was best for all sides involved that he left for Madrid.

Me saying what I said was not having a dig at Mbappe as I think he is a quality player but he is also a luxury player

And more to say they are now a better team with out him as they are all working all the time and are a more complete team

Having Mbappe, Messi and Neymar all there was never going to work even if the fifa generation creamed their pants over it all

It was like playing with 8 players when you didn't have the ball

The whole club got overhauled/streamlined post Emery. Remember that transfer committee you had? Remember all the scouts getting wished the best on their future endeavors? What things did Emery implement behind the scenes that helped Arteta?

Willian was signed strictly due to having Prem experience and it was a short term freebie at short notice. During the early months of Covid where money was tight. In the context of what was happening at that time it made sense. But the team wasn't stable or functional (without a true pre season mind you) and he flopped.

And they decided to spend what money they had that summer on trying to get the defensive structure and build up in place and working as a unit. Which is what happened in the 2nd half of that season. From Jan-May 21 Arsenal had the 3rd best record and defensive stats had improved. I.e conceding less attempts and goals. Under 40 goals for the first time in 5 seasons.

Saliba is whatever. Saliba got the game time to develop and make mistakes. Also considering what he went through during 2020 staying and playing in France was more beneficial for him.
