I get it from that standpoint, I'd be pissed if my squad was in Europa but it's not an apples/apples comparison so I understand...
I mean yea, everyone wants to play in UCL but trophies are the end goal when it’s all said and done. Once you get to a final, you want to win it, no matter how big or small the trophy is.
Even Real Madrid has won the UEFA cup (2x).

Arsenal ain't? Then why everyone always crying at the end of every season? We lifted an FA Cup in 2020. I'll never slander that, but there's (some) of our fanbase that thinks that trophies are some divine right owed to Arsenal...and it's not.
Do I think 17th is symptomatic of much larger issues at the club? Absofukkinglutely. Would I finish 17th and still win UCL...fukk yes I would.
Europa? Maybe...because it means UCL the next season regardless. But either way, they putting something in the case and we ain't.

In the end both teams ended up qualifying for the Champions League but only one ended up with a trophy. I'm actually an Arsenal fan but the mental gymnastics of our fans is embarrassing sometimes

Disagree with the idea that we’ve stood on europa league trophy against Chelsea. it’s a second rate trophy. Even more so with the new format where 3rd in ucl group stages doesn’t go down to europa.
To each their own tho, but I rather have the club be feared/respected by winning games which translates to challenging for the title or winning/going deep in UCL. FA cup, league cup and Europa league are tier 2 consolation prizes and are only noteworthy when a team wins a double or treble which is just claim to being the most dominant that given year. The obsession with every and any trophy is a new phenomenon. I don’t recall this being a thing in the 2000s.
