Tbf by very definition it is a 2nd rate Trophy That's not even downplaying it.

It's literally the Trophy below the CL, the tournament you qualify for if you miss out on CL.

It's still a major European trophy recognised around the world

People dismissing it like this is just like Carra and his comments about Afcon but replacing the Racism out of the comments and replacing it with jealousy

People used to say 3rd place teams dropping out of the CL used to devalue it now they are using because no 3rd place teams are allowed in it, it's not as good

They won a competition, Arsenal were too good to be in. To qualify for a competition, Arsenal already qualified for, through league play.

Also UEFA devalued the competition the moment they allowed the Elite/Historical/Money teams to have an out if they underperformed in the CL in season. While they changed the format for this season. It still had 2 Money/Former Winners whove underperformed this season make the final and win it. I'm sure UEFA were happier when the Prem clubs didn't care about the EL.

Maybe the EL just needs more Epic Music.

UEFA comps are always a lagging indicator of the team that qualified for the competition.

A lot can change from the team that qualifies for the competition and the team that plays in it the next season.

Case and point is Girona. Last season they were flying and qualified for UCL. Following season their team got absolutely gutted over summer and now they’re floundering in the league and barely escaped relegation this season.

He is a textbook fundamentalist. We will play our game be damned hell or high water. I’ve always maintained he’s not a bad manager, I mean the team scores and are exciting to watch most of the time, but they’re not good enough to be competitive in the PL playing that way all the time

I was shocked he had them boys playing low blocks and counter yesterday and they could’ve scored more but for some terrible touches in a few instances
