It's an L but not a fat one IMO.

The difference between this and last year is that PSG is burying their chances now. The Dortmund games were one the worst display of lack of luck I ever witnessed.

I do agree though that this Mbappe less PSG is a better team and I hope (for the NT's sake as well) that he understands he needs to put in some effort when out of possession.

More than burying the chances, the front 3 pressed in a way that Mbappe refused to do. Enrique got the whole squad to buy in and now Europe is on notice.

Yeah, Mbappe definitely isn't capable of putting in the 70+ mins off the ball work that Dembele did last night.

It wasn't just the running either. He was setting traps, angling runs to force Inter into playing to specific areas, stood right back into position for free kicks and goalkicks. He was laser focused. Not a lot of guys have the capacity for that tbh.

Inter returned to Milan this morning after their most humbling night. They were welcomed at the airport by one fan. "I'm the only idiot," Marco told Gazzetta. "But these guys still deserve applause."

Better man than me. If I saw Chelsea at the airport with the Europa Conference League trophy I'd turn the other way.

The passing was sublime too. That backheel to vitinha for the third goal was just *chefs kiss*

Mbappe can do it all with a football, but you think he's dropping deep to near the center circle to play a backheel for a goal he won't get a goal or assist from?

Mbappe nor Dembele are natural strikers, both tasked with doing it this season. One won it all and one ended with 0 trophies.

Inter does need changes but not because of this game. They are still near the top of Europe but their average age is 30.7

It's downhill from here for a lot of these guys..
The core of the team(Barella, Thuram, Lautaro, Bastoni, Dumfries, Dimarco) are still under 30 tho. Their other older players shouldn't be that hard to replace.

So after the match i ended up watching the CBS post game videos and was seeing iShowSpeed there and it was grinding my gears why these shows are bringing him on..... so I went down the rabbit hole to his channel.... and while there I realized why he has 39M followers.... it is a real life version of the Truman Show..... Live streams of the man living his life for 5hrs straight,...so much emgagement that bloody Gianni Infantino stopped by his house to promote the CWC...... crazy.... I see what the appeal is now and why he gets access. Crazy life to live though....

This right here :russ: Crazy!

Sure, the team is now a far better unit, I totally agree with this.

My point was that if only half the 6 posts/crossbars go in, they are through in the final against Madrid. Against Aston Villa this year, they had 4 xG and they scored 5 times. Against BVB last year, they had 5 and scored 0. Sometimes luck does take part in the outcomes

I think Dembouz and Mbappe are two different players so I can't really compare them.

Even the Monaco version of Mbappe wasn't pressing much, just doing the basic sprint towards his man when he had the ball. This was always the "deal" with him... as long as he scores and/or assists. And I say that as I often scream at my TV when Kylian doesn't press with the NT :mjlol: So I'm not defending his lack of effort, just that it's simply his game.

Dembouz always was able to drop down, doing dummy runs or press. Under Tuchel at Dortmund, he was a winger drifting in midfield to play behind the striker, it's something that is naturally part of his game. So overall, I think Dembouz is simply a better fit for Enrique's system.

That said, I'll always be convinced that that BVB semi final last year was some bad juju at work and that under normal circumstances PSG plays Real in the final:russ:

You know I been thinking about this a lot lately. PSG has a lot of "team goals" it's their style of play and I feel like a pass like that should be awarded with an assist as it would be in hockey. I don't know why it's not but what can you do.
