Gyokeres hasn't even played in the PL he was like 21 when he was at Brighton.
Not everyone has the same career trajectory, pretty much as soon as he started playing regularly he's been putting up numbers both in the championship and in Portugal.
Now I'm not saying it's a guarantee he comes and does the same in the PL, but its not like anyone's is putting up even clise to the numbers like him as a 9 in the PL other than Haaland/isak.
We really need someone to take the 9 away from Kai and sesko isn't that, at least not straight away, that's my fear with that signing. It will improve the depth but it doesn't take us up a level, as he probably just shares minutes with him rather than replace him.

Mateta is like the only striker I can remember in recent time that it to took a while to find his feet in the Prem. (3 years or until Glasner came in ) But then was that down to being coached by terrorists? or him still learning his craft. The idea of Sesko i like, and what he can offer i like more. And honestly i dont think he's a project, just a player ready for the next step up. For me getting that wide left player, has been more important for me.
And fixing that midfield, individually Rice and Partey, were good. But collectively, it wasnt good.
