Adrian Newey: Red Bull designer's lawyers negotiating early exit from team

Leading designer Adrian Newey is negotiating an exit from Red Bull that would leave him free to join another team in early 2025, BBC Sport learns.

So this is me hoping that he is able to negotiate this because he is going to work in Italy and not the UK.


Hopeful....fingers and toes crossed.

Either way at this rate where he is going will be announced pretty soon

Official : Adrian Newey will leave Red Bull in 2025 after 19 years. He will step back from design work at Oracle Red Bull Racing and focus on Red Bull’s first hypercar, the RB17.

Just read an article that says he will finish the hypercar, but he has no gardening leave stipulations and could be at another team as soon as 2025.

So he could still end up at
Aston Martin (Front runners in my opinion)
Mclaren
Mercedes
Ferrari.

I expect we will hear something within the month.

Either way he will likely be a principal car designer for 2026 for the team he goes to.

If you really look and a nice bookend story, it would be.

Newey to Ferrari
Ferrari becomes the dominant car
Lewis wins his 8th and maybe spends 3 years at Ferrari.
Verstappen moves to Ferrari
Somewhere in between all that horner may lose his position.

12 months gardening leave from beginning of 2025. That means he’d be available to work on a 2027 car, as I expected. Will be very borderline if Lewis is there if he decides on Ferrari.

Max to Mercedes chances have risen.

EDIT: Looks like a year starting now. Now that makes things spicier. Could def have an impact on the new 2026 car.

Given the timeline though, he might just retire.

That leaves Merc and Ferrari.

You mean it's going to be Ferrari. Ain't no way he's going to go from Horner's sassy ass to Toto's even sassier ass.

It'd mean more to be the guy designing the car to bring Ferrari back to the front AND potentially be the guy behind the car that allows Lewis to win #8.
