But, once I respawned, I kept getting my car tires shot out and I had to keep goin back and recover the item I dropped

I should've just hid first and went back for it

I just decided to finish it, but, I didn't have time to call an armored car, so I was stealing cars off the streets.

This time I just jumped off the roof (made sure I had a parachute) towards the interstate because that's where the underground tunnel is

I followed your advice and just waited them out before I went back for the harddrive (I did get killed by the police once)
