I'm gonna be getting back to the 360 wave game.

What pomemade would you recommend to start out with?

do you really need a pomade? I was told you only need a hard brush and some hair conditioner to get waves.

been flirting with the idea of getting waves for the first time ever before I finally let go of my fukked up hairline

not even sure if it will wave for my true mashed up 4c hair type with no curl pattern whatsoever

I've heard a pomade is good to hold the hair on the sides (easily the toughest place to get waves).

I have Nigerian hair and it's as kinky as it gets but I still have waves on the top and back of my head. Just trying to get them deeper and get them on the sides. Got a fresh cut yesterday and I've gotten a couple du-rags. No lie, Tariq from Power got me back into the wave thing.

I'll just head to the beauty salon today and look for a pomade and some olive oil hair moisturizer and call it a day .

I'll wolf until end of October and see how far I can get these waves.

I've heard a pomade is good to hold the hair on the sides (easily the toughest place to get waves).

I have Nigerian hair and it's as kinky as it gets but I still have waves on the top and back of my head. Just trying to get them deeper and get them on the sides. Got a fresh cut yesterday and I've gotten a couple du-rags. No lie, Tariq from Power got me back into the wave thing.

Y'all Nigerians have better hair texture suited for the waves. You been to South Africa, you know most of us black folks in that region don't got curl in our hair at all so I imagine it would be a nightmare trying to get any waves to show on my head

Imma give this wave thing a try though probably in December.

Yea I was out South Africa but no lie, I don't remember taking note of the hair texture of any males. Most of the guys I saw were rocking a low caeser or were bald.

I did take note of them South African women though

Yeah the culture is to keep your hair low as a male, its frowned upon to grow long hair as a male past your mid-20s. I didnt take note of hair texrures and all that until my hairline started pushing back :mjhairline:. If you do notice though you will find that men from West and East African countries have curlier hair texture than men in Southern African countries. I remember one time a girl commented on one of my old classmate's hair texture and she said "I didnt know you have Nigerian hair", basically telling him his hair has slight curl pattern to it. I was like until I realised what she actually meant. His hair texture is rare among South Africans and his is like that because his great grandmother was biracial.

Interesting. I'm assuming the girl in the first pic would be an example of Nigerian hair and the one in the 2nd is South African, correct?

the other way around, the first one is SA and the second one with a defined curl pattern is the Nigerian. this is what ive come to notice being around people of different Nationalities. Two of my collegues I share a lab with are Nigerian and Ghanian, and they have hair texture similar to the girl in the second pic. Everyone else in our lab has hair similar to the girl in the first pic.

Maaaaaan these ingrown hairs are killin me...I’ve tried everything

Anyone in here shave with a single razor blade? Similar to that Bevel Safety razor?

These razor bumps are killing me so I'm gonna take all of November to let my hair/beard grow to let the ingrown hairs grow out. I've used both clippers and razors (Gillette Fusion 5 to be specific) in the past and none of them work. Even after shaving I'll splash "Bump Patrol" but I'll get bumps a few days later.

I need help y'all....this thing is bad. I'm too young to have the crunch bar under my chin

I may load some pics just to get some advice.

Sounds like you have sensitive, possibly dry skin and or overshave. I found this, you may want to try a pre-shave oil.

Thanks for this. I definitely have sensitive skin. My issue has been my beard growing in different directions. So even though I shave in one direction, I have hairs that are growing in the other direction. What I've done is shave my all my facial hair and I'll let the hair grow back out over November and December. The issue is worse under my chin. Old bumps + new hairs + bump remover has dried out some old boils and has them flaking off.

Whole situation is mad frustrating. I'm thinking of shea butter for moisture in the mean time. If it gets worse I'll just have to see a dermatologist.

you don’t need any pomade, get you a oil based hair grease like olive oil, castor oil, or coconut oil, unless your hair is really course I would avoid it.


also witch hazel and tee tree oil ( not that cheap family dollar stuff) works great for hair bumps and a facial astringent.

To start take a look at the active ingredients on your current cleansing products- if you can get as little alcohol as possible, perhaps try a 1.5% salicylic acid soapy cleanser and try to minimize the strokes to apply and wipe/wash it off. I rec a light moisturizer, Neutrogena has some for your face. You may still want to check with a derm to see if you have eczema.

Maybe something with oil but direct oil isn’t good for someone with sensitive skin. I’d recommend a toner w/spot application in place of an astringent as well, as they tend to have a lot of alcohol which dries skin.
