yea i hate the killer of the week format.. its just so unrealistic that serial killing is so commonplace in this universe and that all the serial killers are in the same town.

It seems like the show is just set in the DC/Maryland/Virginia region so its not that they're necessarily in the same town.. I think the main problem is that they're just becoming too cartoony. Especially the way they executed the first scene in last weeks Ep with the manbearpig guy jumping on the semi truck.. just that whole episode in general was a bit much

I really think NBC is pretty hands off in terms of content.

My point was more that the showrunners and writers realize that they are on NBC and think that they need to cater to a certain audience that usually watches shows on NBC. Some of the aspects of the show especially during the killer of the week episodes seemed a bit dumbed down to me (weird editing, too much exposition, unnecessary attempts at humor, ect) Obviously the gore, blood and violence constantly pushes the envelope

After watching this episode, I agree with the mindset that Will is baiting Hannibal by allowing him to think he is inching towards the dark side. I'm sure there is a part of Will that enjoys going there, but he probably feels he can control it and it is necessary in order to capture Hannibal. I do like the fact now that Will in his conversations now doesn't pretend to not know the monster that Hannibal is and Hannibal stays walking the line of never straight coming out and admitting anything.

I have been enjoying the introduction of the Margo character, now that Gillian Anderson dipped out to avoid winding up on Hannibal's dinner-plate she is another character who suspects the true nature of Hannibal.

At this stage in the game Jack doesn't know for certain the intentions of Hannibal, but he stays eating at his house. That food is too good for him to pass up

I'd say he knows exactly what Hannibal is, he spoke to Will about catching him earlier in the season. But he can't be like every time Hannibal invites him for dinner, it would look suspicious. So for the time being he has to take that L knowing what he's eating.

Show been cartoony since day 1 breh. Season 1 they had a dude skinning "angels" and hanging them 40 feet off the side of buildings. Or Hannibal/Abigail hiding Nicholas Boyle's body with police right outside. Or the black dude that met Hannibal just happening to be a serial killer.

A show like this can't operate with realism, it wouldn't exist. The premise wouldn't work even if the serial killers were more realistic, because there ain't that many serial killers to begin with. I'd rather they say "fukk it, let's go crazy" and make them as wild and interesting as possible, since they're kind of a necessary evil, plot-wise.

There's no way to write out the "killer of the week" format in a series about Hannibal. Him helping Will Graham and Jack Crawford catch serial killers was in the OG novels, it's what he does.

I agree in premise, but you can still avoid the killer of the week format by making them take multiple weeks to catch one serial killer.

They catch them right away and start the process right over

I agree, but I think that's a product of being on network TV. They need to make the show more procedural to dumb it down for network viewers

I doubt it has anything to do with that. Nobody is watching this shyt on NBC, it's already almost been cancelled once. If it goes to Amazon or AMC or where ever, I guarantee they'll keep the same story format, because the writers like coming up with new crime scene tableauxs. The elaborate crime scenes are almost secondary to the serial killers doing them.

This episode left me perplexed many times during its duration.

My suspension of belief was stretched with Will giving Tier and hand to hand death. Nothing suggests that that should have happened. I know I'm not the only one who thought that Will and Hannibal were going to dine on him but that was an interesting twist on his flashback having him speak to Tier during it.

That is a wild sex scene. I knew Chill Will was going to smash Margot but him seeing not only Alana but Hannibal and the monster blew my mind. Also, seeing Will and Margot compare scars reminded me of that scene in Lethal Weapon.

I can't believe Freddie went out like that. In fact, I won't believe it like I don't believe that Chill Town is gone until the next episode airs.

Mason is a fool putting that meat dummy in his sister's clothes. Was the recording of the screams from last episode? If so, that's some sick stuff and I love it. That pig looked amazing.

The comedy was great as well. Freddie telling Alana that her being off that dikk is making her blind to see what's in front of her.

Hannibal: You must be a boring interview subject if she's already turning to fiction. ":Smirks: Looks at Will"
