Alright my Coli brethren the time is upon us. In 5 days the Grammy Awards will be held, many of us fans of Hip Hop have traditionally dismissed the Grammy Ceremonies as nothing more than pomp and circumstance for the mainstream of music's pop and crossover industry to get together and basically suck each other off. For many many years more than a fair number of Hip Hop's true spokesmen have gone unrecognized, un-nominated, and un-rewarded for their talent.
However, in recent years it seems that the Grammy nominations and voters have begun to slowly change their tune and have recognized some of Hip Hop's elite talent with well-deserved rewards. Artists such as Lupe Fiasco, The Roots, Common, Mos Def, and Q-Tip have all either received nominations or trophies, providing a nice balance to their more mainstream counterparts (Jay- Z, Kanye West, Eminem)
This year provides a nice contrast between artistic excellence and mainstream relevance. With respected and accomplished veterans such as Nas, The Roots, and Snoop Dogg (or Lion if you prefer) going up against Crossover giants Kanye West and Jay-Z (collectively known as The Throne) Young Jeezy, Rick Ross and 2 Chainz. Hip Hop's new school is also well represented with Drake and Wale scoring nominations alongside widely controversial (if not politically incorrect) super lyricist Lupe Fiasco.

Was The Throne's nikkas In Paris enough of an audio Tour De Force that the Gold is gonna find them? Or perhaps Drake took good enough care of your ears in 2011 that 2013 is his year?
