It’s because most of her songs are extremely juvenile. You then realize her music mainly caters to gays and chicken heads.

Those artists you mentioned (not sure about Ella Mai though) made mature music for mature audiences as well. When you compare the substance of their music, it’s not hard to see why.
I’m pretty sure Scott Snort wrote and produced that track. I know Beyoncé’s name is in the credits but she probably just added a few vocal arrangements.

But yeah, other than her solo debut, her catalogue is just trash. I had high hopes for her but she just makes fast food music. No one will be playing 95% of her music years from now. She is a great performer though.
2018… but I was “hating”.

You trippin if you don’t think people will play Me Myself and I 30 years from now.

You trippin if you don’t think her music will eventually be sampled

I feel that way about Me Myself and I too, but just that song. :pachaha:

I think Beyonce alieniated herself from being on MJ level because she didn't allow men to be included in her music. I largely feel like MJ created gender neutral and race neutral music that allowed everyone to feel like they are a part of it. I feel you have to be a woman to resonate with most of her music.

this x 100... her body of work is too generic for me, and i love a good r&b vocalist. but you gotta respect that she's ascended herself into that all-time discussion despite the lack of creative direction in her music.

she's a technically a much better vocalist than mary j blige, but i'd rather listen to MJB's catalogue any day as far being being a better artist.

i also feel like the truly transcendent r&b artists bridge the gender gap. i seriously don't know any brehs who listen to beyonce :dame:... compared to female r&b artists like sade, whitney, anita baker, mary j, etc.

I didn't realize you posted this already, spot on.

There's artists that find a way to include everyone, Beyonce never was interested in doing that, she catered to women and never really seemed to be interested in male fandom.

All I’ll say is, a great artist has the ability to cross all barriers when it comes to their audience. Beyoncé has always had a parochial fan base which is reflected in the quality of her music.

Her best music in my opinion was because of Scott Storch (Naughty Girl, Me Myself and I and Baby Boy). Crazy In Love because of Rich Harrison and Work it Out because of The Neptunes.

My dad, an old school no nonsense Black man, even bought Madonna’s True Blue album… that’s how big she was in the 80s… everyone fukked with her music. Janet, Whitney, Aaliyah, TLC…. they broke so many barriers, as did Destiny’s Child.

As a solo artist? It’s a shame she never evolved but she has always had the talent. Her vocals are incredible. But artistically, she has always been remedial.

Not a huge fan (I’m more of a traditional RnB guy.. Brandy, Jazmine Sullivan, Erykah, Lauren) but I can’t deny she has classic hits

she already started getting sampled.

the younger generation still can cite her most notable hits

- NLE Choppa

- 21 Savage

Songs like Party and Love on Top gets played at any given black event: family reunion, Greek picnic, 4th of July etc

You will hear Drunk in Love atleast once in the club per night and the crowd gone scream ‘we beeee alll nighhtttt LOOVVEEE’

And Crazy in Love is a pop staple that’s instantly recognizable for what it is when covered in movie trailers.

she’s overrated in general and her Stan’s are autistic, but she’s a defining artist of this time. Lack of acedotal experiences from our ‘personal viewpoint’ only shows a slice of the pie.

I love Beyonce but yeah her music is kind of lacking. Now saying she doesn't have real hits is egregious tho.

Irreplaceable
Single Ladies
Me, Myself, & I
Crazy in Love
Drunk in Love
Love on Top

All those songs you're going to be hearing for the rest of your lives.

Even looking at her streams/recurrent numbers her catalog is bumped more than any of her actual ‘classmates’ and ‘peers’ despite them selling more than her in their prime ie- Usher, Britney, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys etc.

I think it would be the same

I don't think Aaliyah would also be willing to embrace the machine and stardom as long as beyonce did as well. Might have had a few scandals as well based on what people have been saying about her well after her death, which has never really happened in the span of beyonce's long career.

Beyonce is a once in a generation talent.... but she has no real hits. You won't hear most Beyonce music played 10 years from now at a cookout.

You'll hear "before I let go" played, but guess why? Because it's a Frankie Beverly and Maze song, not a Beyonce song.

It's incredible that someone with talent like that won't go and get with some real songwriters and put out something quality, instead of this microwaved music she does, that's hot for 2 weeks and then you never hear it again.

I've NEVER heard anybody play anything from that Lemonade album. Just utter trash. Drunk in love was hot when it was hot, but that disappeared too, and you don't hear anybody playing that anymore.

It trips me out when ppl compare her to Mike Jack, as if we ain't playing that nicca's music from 30 years ago like it just came out yesterday. She'll never be on that level.

All facts. Only thing i would change in what you said is she has no real "classics". She has alot of real hits but not alot of real "classics" that stand the test of time

She is a phenomenal live performer one of the best ever but when it comes to her actual albums it leaves alot to be desired. I mean I respect that she at least puts her soul into the performing ill give her that, unlike Rihanna. But she really dropped the ball with crafting real albums and not chasing too many trends.

The Beyhive needs to respect more artists before her like Mary J and Mariah. Both of them had multiple classic albums before they were 30, before being in the industry 10 years. Beyonce has been around almost 20 years as a solo artist and what classic albums do we have? Even Destinys Child doesnt really have classic albums

This convo is hilarious cause there is a video clip from a decade ago where Beyonce was talking about how people dont create albums anymore, just singles, but she is doing the same thing she criticized people for
