Again, it's not just about economics, it's about a comprehensive vision for what the government can do for you. Never having to pay another healthcare bill or fear going broke because of greedy healthcare insurance companies, redirecting the money spent on foreign military misadventures (like Israeli funding) toward fixing our (rural) communities, higher quality government services by reigning in freak oligarchs like Elon Musk and Sam Altman, these are all issues that align with the narrative of a fundamentally broken system. Instead of denying these people their feelings, we should be seeking to channel them from the villains the MAGA fascists have given them (immigrants and marginalized people) towards the actual villains (oligarchs and bad institutions).

Or we can just keep giving up by relying on comfortable narratives about the irredeemability of the public that coincidentally allow our Democratic leadership to keep grifting on McKinsey-sponsored book tours and consulting fees when they leave office having done nothing to help the average person.

Farmers also blame Democrats for trade deals that benefited Canadians and Mexicans at the expense of American agriculture. That’s why Trump has been so popular with farmers.
