Low key he's done a pretty bad job when it comes to long term team building. He's really good at free agency but has failed to draft. Which means the team has a much shorter window than NFC teams who can actually draft (see: Eagles, Lions, Packers, etc). The other 1st round pick they got the same year as JJ isn't playing well either. Dallas Turner.

People in Minnesota say the GM wanted JJ to start this year whereas KOC wanted to re-sign Darnold or bring in another vet (Rodgers). Seems pretty clear the GM got this 100% wrong. Given that he just signed an extension I'm not sure he gets fired though.

What's the move next year? You guys got a -38mil cap next year. I'm sure you can get under the cap but it's gonna take some cuts and restructures; I assume Hockenson will be cut for instance. The Jettas and Darrisaw extensions go into effect next year too, plus a noteworthy cap hit on a 31yo Aaron Jones. 19mil cap hit for a 31yo Van Ginkle too. Basically the wages of not being able to draft start next year. Can you sign Mac Jones or whichever vet QB that KOC wants by then? I don't know.

This entire thing was built under the assumption that a rookie deal QB could make the numbers work.
