:heh: @ Joe's regular ass, obvious list of Black History Month acknowledgements. It sounds more like Joe is just trying to make friends in the movie industry. Will Packer, Ava Duvernay, Issa Rae and now 50 Cent?

The other guys have been doing a good job at it. Do some homework, Joe...especially since you tried to take it so seriously at the start.

Yall take Joe Budden/this podcast way way wayyyyy too seriously, lol. They're just trying to entertain you somehow for a few hours, a lot of the stuff they say is probably bs that they think would be funny/entertaining to talk about. Just be entertained man, damn, they just tryna eat. Their real, mature 40 year old views would probably make for a wack ass boring podcast
Pretty much this. I mean the podcast lane is too flooded anyway so guys are trying to distance themselves from the others by saying the most crazy shyt to go viral... You know how people get mad at ESPN and CNN personalities for saying crazy shyt that ends up making them viral??? Same thing. I just want to laugh man.. that’s all.

The R&B topic is so shortsighted. Do they honestly think Young MA is the type of rapper that knows about Snoh, Alex Isley, Lucky Daye, Steve Lacy, Brent Faiyaz, etc? You have to be somewhat familiar with the underground scene, or at least know someone who is, in order to hear those artists. That's the reason I kinda agree with her.

Which R&B artists are being pushed in the mainstream? Summer, H.E.R., Khalid, and that's about it. Ella Mai is probably working, Jacquees is inconsistent, CB is a legend act and doesnt count in my opinion, Ari gets play to an extent,....
Their Rap/R&B collab convo as well; the last big songs that I can think of are "Crew" and "LOYALTY".

Per usual, Joe doesn't know what he's talking about. Pretty Ricky came out in 04 right after You Got Served :mjlol:

That debate between which group is better might be more nteresting than they made it out to be.

She should know who all those artist are. If they are prominent on Playlist she should know since that’s how everyone consumes their music

Those artist aren’t underground it’s just different for what it takes to be mainstream R&B vs rap these day’s

It’s rare for R&B to be top 40 but I would still say Snoh and Brent are mainstream R&B

I don't think he meant different eras like New Jack Swing and Neo Soul. Could be wrong.

It's unbelievably corny, especially with his prior attitude towards people's choices. Even Mal is picking interesting people. How you producing this segment and getting showed up by two white guys?

I get the point of wanting to give people their flowers while they can still smell them, but at this point, just have a lil segment about that during one episode. You don't have to water down your black history month segment to highlight commonly known people. It should be about sharing knowledge. Not about if they're still alive to recognize it; fukking ava duvernay isn't listening to your podcast and if she was, she would probably be a lil disappointed by Joe's choices

Everyone isn't consuming music strictly from playlists.

Ask one of your boys or a girl you're talking to if they know of any of those artists. They've probably heard of them but do not listen to their music. Not even talking about charting; more so who actually consumes those artists.

Yeah I never thought about B2K like that. I always assumed they had a lot of hits. I fukked with Pretty Ricky a lot more.

They know of them if they are fans of R&B

what Young MA and other don’t want to admit is that they are bigger fans of rap than R&B and this is the result of everyone preferring rap music

There’s a ceiling on how big and R&B artist can get these days. Summer walker is hottest R&B artist out but her numbers and streams pale in comparison to the hottest rapper right now (Roddy Rich)

but in the streaming era an argument about the lack of balance feels hollow
