One interesting contrast is Kanye. Kanye is known for being egotistical but he has so many relationships with so many people, and collabs. He seems like he has figured out how to be self obsessive and a visionary but works with people and maintains relationships...

you can't get anything done in the high design world without collabing, takes too many skills in super specific areas and brainstorming concepts is the base. Kanye and the art people he ran with either knew that from jump or hit that wall the hard way. industries like that value collaborators more than anything else, alot of industries aren't like that so most people never approach it like that. Podcasting is star based imo

The podcast lol! When it was just Rory and Joe, that shyt was weak. When Mal came on, the pod got rejuvenated. What they helped build versus what they negotiated are different IMO

The podcast still flourished without either of them

I mean obviously, but I would never do my team like that either.

I get his position of "this is my podcast, you two are here to help and get an easy bag. I'm taking the meeting, bringing deals in, etc"

But I also completely understand Rory and Mal feeling like they need some security and ownership since they are part of the talent.

But embarrassing and tarnishing their name is nuts. It's one of the most memorable laws of power:

it's not crazy. Sounds like that's a term in the contract. We'd need to see the conditions. They could argue that they we're fired and the one-year moratorium is invalid.
