I think a lot of nostalgia Is at play here too

100%. The last year to a year and a half of the pod with Rory and Mal was not all that good and it went from me looking forward to listening to me skipping episodes of them. I also mentioned when the switch was being made that Joe had used up a lot of his appeal as a lot of the entertainment was talking about old shyt Joe had done. At a certain point people run out of stories. Combine that with Joe wanting to be so industry now and that's sanitized a lot of his commentary that also drew a lot of people in. So from there all that is left is that familiarity with the hosts.
