One year until Windows kills off normal Windows 10. Any predictions on what it will do for the Linux userbase? I just watched a video from ExplainingComputers on the topic, and the comment section is mostly all people making the transition.

I think the linux desktop will see a resurgence that coincides with how well LLM's improve with coding tasks and context length.

either microsoft will change the TPM2.0 restriction, or people can use the Rufus hack to make a live W11 usb. i got W11 to boot on some pretty old hardware. it aint pretty but it works.

i predict an outcry over it. people were using XP and W7 for YEARS after it was EOL. MS still put out patches for meltdown/spectre.

this is a blatant attempt to force people to buy new computers and its gross

Just installed Linux(ZorinOS)

Enjoying it so far.
How did you end up choosing your distro btw? I stumbled into Debian because my Chromebook had it, but in retrospect, I never really knew which direction to turn when I made the leap lol.

Zorin. I was thinking debian or Ubuntu but I felt like any of those options would suffice so I ultimately just chose zorin haha.

I lowkey just found this out earlier this month 😭. I assumed that all powerful commands (ie `chown` `chmod`) required sudo, when really it's just system level folders or misconfigured permissions
