Taylor is the second 2018 prospect from Springfield to commit to the Wolverines, joining fellow four-star prospect Antwuan Johnson, who committed to the Wolverines two weeks ago.

The teammates are currently the only two commitments for Michigan in the 2018 class. Wolverine247 will have more on this story as it develops.

Some standouts to me from the spring game

DT Maurice Hurst- Really stood out early and was a force upfront once again. He’s got a great jump on the ball and it showed again tonight. He’s to be a huge part of defensive line this year.

DB Jeremy Clark- Tonight Clark was able to breakup a few passes and looked much more comfortable in coverage. Michigan should have three goods cornerbacks with Clark's emergence, as well as Channing Stribling, to go along with Jourdan Lewis.

LB Ben Gedeon- As everyone predicted, Gedeon showed he’s ready to step up and be a fulltime starter. Gedeon flew around and made some plays up at the line of scrimmage. He could be in for a breakout year.

LB Mike McCray- Another impressive linebacker, McCray was really good today I thought. He did a nice job tackling out in space and in the flanks. McCray should help bring speed and athleticism to the position.

WR Grant Perry- He was able to get separation with his quickness but also made some grabs outside the numbers. He could be a go-to receiver for Michigan next year. Perry really understands how to run routes and has a innate feel for the position.

DB Tyree Kinnel- The sophomore defensive back made some nice plays covering the slot and can really tackle. He’s a tough player that should add depth to the defensive back group and be a reliable option at nickel or safety.

RB Ty Isaac- Isaac had a couple really nice runs and looked quicker and faster. He fit the hole with decisiveness and knew when to bounce it. Isaac could really push DeVeon Smith for the starting spot at some point if he isn’t already.

QB Situation: All the quarterbacks did some nice things today, including early enrollee freshman Brandon Peters. Wilton Speight probably had the best day. He meticulously marched the ball down the field and looked comfortable with his reads and accuracy. Speight really see’s the whole field and stays calm in the pocket. Shane Morris made some really nice throws and had command of the offense but still threw a couple inaccurate balls. He looked like he has the best grasp of the scheme. John O’Korn’s mobility was very impressive and he was able to keep drives alive with plays he made with his feet. O’Korn knew where to go with the ball but didn’t look quite as decisive as Morris and Speight. Right now if I had to list the depth chart based on what I’ve seen this spring and the spring game it would be Speight, O’korn , and Morris as the third. It’s going to be a tough decision for the staff.

I thought it would be okorns job but after the spring game idk. I only watched like 20 minutes of it. Atleast I know Harbs will put the person who earns it in the first game.

What if Shane Morris comes out and wins a national championship :blessed::troll:

Defense going to be our strong point again and I absolutely don't mind that. I feel like if we can score 21-28 points a game then the d will do the rest, we will be in very good hands. Brown about to blitz the shyt outta ppl.

Los Lunas (NM) four-star running back O'Maury Samuels committed to Michigan on Sunday, but it almost ended sooner than that, as he strongly considered committing to the Michigan staff on Saturday before he departed to head back home.

"I think I want to be a Wolverine," Samuels told me off the record on Saturday when we spoke about his visit. "I have my dad's blessing, but I want to talk to my mom first to make sure and to get her blessing as well. I came really, really close to committing to Coach Wheatley to be honest, but my mom's opinion is important to me and I want to check with her first and talk it over."

Samuels also said that he would have been surprised if he hadn't verballed to the staff by Tuesday, as he believed mom would give him the blessing to choose the Wolverines.

This is a kid whose ranking is going to move upwards before it goes downwards. He was absolutely explosive at the Opening regional in Dallas, and is the current national leader in Nike's SPARQ rating:
This is a guy who would be a Top100 player if he played in California, Texas or Florida. Because he was invited to the Opening, he will get an opportunity to showcase his abilities against the top talent in the country and will subsequently have a chance to rise in the rankings.

Once Michigan evaluated him fully after the Dallas regional, he immediately vaulted up their board and the offer came. Much like the situation with A.J. Dillon a couple weeks ago, Michigan coaches viewed Samuels' visit in the "barometer" fashion as they wanted to see him in person and get to know him better. Much like Dillon, the visit was positive enough on both ends for them to meet in the middle and move forward together.

My current belief is that Michigan is probably done at running back in the 2017 class. While we reported on Saturday that USC commit Stephen Carr's interest is legitimate, the belief on Michigan's end after some post-visit digging is that said interest may be a bit exaggerated.

If he performs well enough at the Opening his rankings will sky rocket numbers are ridiculous

never seen okorn play but I liked speights throwing the ball when he played last season. Just flinging it 50 yards down the field with ease.

he played pretty good as a true freshman for Houston but then wars came in when he got hurt(or struggled) his sophomore year. And wars is a beast dual threat guy. Thespring game he didt have the best blocking bit he did make some quick decisions to get out of the pocket and picked up some first downs with his legs. Is speight a sophomore or junior?

I believe speight is a junior. Be just has the look of classic Michigan qb to me, Grbac and Collins and Brady and greise etc.
