NewI was just tipped off that Oklahoma defensive graduate assistant Courtney "Chip" Viney will be in Ann Arbor for an interview.

Viney was just a graduate assistant at OU last season but his reputation as a coach and as a recruiter are impeccable according to people close to the program. Viney is a young coach (26 years old) and has connections in California from his high school (Fresno (Calif.) Edison) and college (UCLA) playing days.

One source close to OU's program says that it would be a huge blow for the Sooner program if Viney is lured away.

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Michigan's spring practice has officially started, and with it, a new roster with updated heights, weights and a few position changes.

Perhaps the most notable size change listed on Michigan's official spring roster -- handed out to reporters at IMG Academy -- on Monday came next to redshirt freshman tight end Tyrone Wheatley Jr.'s name.

Wheatley was listed at 6-foot-6, 260 pounds when Michigan's season ended last year. That may have been off.

As of now, Wheatley -- who practiced solely at tight end Monday -- came in at 6-foot-6, 291 pounds. He's obviously Michigan's biggest pass-catching target, but he also looked like he was moving just fine for a player at that size.

Wheatley practiced with the first and second teams throughout Monday's practice, showing great hands and quick feet for a player who is approaching 300 pounds. The plan, as of now, is obviously to keep him at tight end.

Another tight end with a growing frame is converted quarterback Zach Gentry. The redshirt freshman is up 14 pounds from the end of last season and is now at 6-7, 244. Gentry worked with the first string some during the middle session but spent most of the morning working with the younger players and backups.

Other notable weight/position swaps
• Junior Chase Winovich is now playing his third position in three years and has a different number again. Winovich (wearing No. 15 now) is listed as a defensive end. He's 6-3, 235, though, which means he'll need to add more weight to hold his own at that spot.

• Junior running back Ty Isaac has dropped 12 pounds from the end of last season and is now listed at 6-3, 228.

• Redshirt sophomore linebacker Noah Furbush has made sizable strength gains in the recent weeks and months. Furbush -- who ran with the starters for most of Monday's workout -- is now listed at 6-4, 242. Furbush was listed at 217 at the start of the 2015 season.

• Junior Mason Cole -- who was the starting center for most of Monday -- continues to add weight to his frame. Cole played last season at around 287 pounds but is now up to 305. Another offensive lineman who has added a good deal of weight: Jon Runyan Jr -- who is up to 304 pounds after beginning last year at 275.

• Sticking with the linemen: First-string left tackle Grant Newsome -- who repped as a starter all day Monday -- is up an even 20 pounds from the start of last year. The sophomore is now 6-7, 300.

• Khalid Hill is, as expected, now listed as a fullback on Michigan's roster. He dropped seven pounds and now comes in at 6-2, 263. Tight end Ian Bunting, meanwhile, continues to add weight: The 6-foot-7 redshirt sophomore is now 6-7, 252 (he was 243 a year ago).
