I see you guys are loading up on three-star CAC running backs and three-star CAC linebackers from Connecticut.

How are you going to keep up with Urban the God with that kind of recruiting?????

You mean the guys that won't end up being part of the class? :usure:

Michigan had a nice recruiting weekend.

I put in a 247Sports Crystal Ball forecast for Luiji Vilain before the weekend visit and I still think the Top100 defensive end ends up in Ann Arbor following the trip. He’s a priority rush end for the Wolverines.

I added a 247Sports Crystal Ball forecast in favor of Michigan for Top247 cornerback following Ambry Thomas after talking with a source Monday morning. There are folks around the Wolverines program that would be shocked if he didn’t end up part of the program.

I still feel good about the 247Sports Crystal Ball forecast in favor of the Maize and Blue for Top247 cornerback Jaylen Kelly-Powell.

Sounds like it will be Michigan, Michigan State or back to Kentucky for Toledo (Ohio) Central Catholic Top247 defensive end James Hudson.

One source believes it will be Alabama or Michigan for Montvale (NJ) St. Joseph Regional Top247 2018 defensive end Dorian Hardy. The Wolverines being the first offer helps.

Wayne (NJ) DePaul Catholic 2018 quarterback Shelton Applewhite also visited over the weekend.

1st Hill now Thomas finally building a connection into King:blessed:

2017 five-star quarterback Dylan McCaffrey has been committed to Michigan since February 15th, and will make his second visit to Ann Arbor since committing next month.

"I'm going to be up there for their passing camp on June 18th," he told 247Sports Director of Scouting Barton Simmons on Saturday. "Any excuse to get back up there is a good one for me."
Since committing to the Wolverines, McCaffrey has been relatively quiet media-wise but has been doing some work behind the scenes to try to help build Michigan's 2017 class into a great one.

"I talk to Donovan Peoples-Jones a lot," he said. "I've been talking mostly to receivers and guys up front. I talk a lot with Cesar Ruiz up at IMG Academy and (four-star center) Brett Neilon. I've been talking to guys all over."

McCaffrey is currently the top-ranked pro-style quarterback in the country according to the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is the top ranked player in the state of Colorado and is ranked 19th overall in the country.

Gawdbaugh:wow:this is why he the staff put so much priority into David Long Cali:blessed:

Once an afterthought in his recruitment, Michigan has begun to make enough of an impression on Calabasas (CA) 2017 five-star cornerback Darnay Holmes that they've already secured an official visit from him this fall.

“Michigan is for sure moving up in things," Holmes told Huskers Illustrated analyst Mike Schaefer over the weekend. “Coach Jim Harbaugh is building a monster up there. My best friend David Long is going up there in June. Dylan Crawford is up there. A lot of California guys go up there. That shows Ann Arbor isn’t a bad place to go."

Harbaugh has obviously been a major pull for almost every recruit on Michigan's board, and Holmes is no different. He says meeting the Wolverines' head man will be a big deal for him.

“Harbaugh seems like a funny guy," he said. "I haven’t met him in person but that definitely could be a life changing experience. Seeing those videos are funny. It shows he’s got a great social life."

Holmes' mentioning of Long is important, as the latter refers to the former as more than a brother to him. It's that bond that's helped energize and reignite interest from both parties.

"(Darnay) is like a blood brother to me," Long said. "I'm working on trying to get him and his dad out to Ann Arbor in June for a visit. I've been working hard on him. I told him there's potential playing time to be had because we graduate so many defensive backs after this year. We'll see how it goes."

Holmes is the nation's top 2017 cornerback according to both the 247Sports Composite and 247Sports. He is the second ranked player in the state of California for the cycle.

Then there's this look
I'm told that Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh spoke with former Pasadena (CA) Bishop Alemany four-star Desean Holmes yesterday on the phone. Holmes was a Top150 recruit in the 2015 class. I'm still gathering more on this, but here's what I know right now:

1. Holmes did not play college football last year. He signed with San Diego State but never enrolled to my knowledge. From what I'm told, it was family-related stuff that kept him from enrolling and has kept him off the field the last couple years.

2. He is the cousin of 2017 five-star cornerback Darnay Holmes. :jawalrus:

Should be able to learn more about this, but I'm guessing this stuff is in the early stages right now. It may turn into something, it may turn into nothing.

EDIT/UPDATE: Hearing Holmes may visit Michigan sometime in the near future. Assuming (not confirmed) that Darnay would make that trip with him.

Also strongly believe that Michigan would surge up Darnay's list if something works out with Desean. That's after talking to a couple people.

McCaffrey is going to be everything the fanbase thought Shane Morris would be. Kid is just a flat out stud. Just hope we can hold on to him. Will be a 5* star when it's all said and done.

He loved the idea of being the first domino to fall and to recruit for us. Brandon Peters prob not sticking around tho

Michigan is back in California. It's been a long time coming to rebuild that pipeline

This could come down to Florida and Michigan. The Gators have been the longtime leader, but Michigan is pitching potential early PT and are going to roll the red carpet out for him when he comes up in June.

TJ Slaton, from what I'm told, is expected to visit as well for the camp. No concrete confirmation on that yet.

Also strongly believe that Herbert is one of the most underrated players in our system right now. I think others discussed it here, but there are a few people around the AH program that believe he's a better college prospect than Slaton is.
Same school as Nick Eubanks we are near the top lead for Slaton as well:thumbsup:

Say whaaaaaaaaaa!??

Peters isn't going anywhere. Trust me. The kid will start next year. I don't care WHO wins out this year between Speight and O'Korn. Peters will start for the following 2 years (McCaffery will redshirt 1 year and backup his second.. Then start his 3rd when Peters is in the league. :shaq:

Notes
NJ OL moving up: We're hearing that Michigan offensive coordinator Tim Drevno was recently out to Patterson (NJ) Passaic to see 2017 three-star offensive tackle Carter Warren and was impressed with what he saw from the 7th ranked prospect in New Jersey in the cycle.

We believe Warren is moving up Michigan's board and may become a legitimate target for them going forward. The Wolverines have their sights set on Drew Singleton and Markquese Bell in New Jersey, and we may be adding Warren to that list in the near future.

Despite a 247Sports Crystal Ball that is leaning towards in-state Rutgers, one east coast source told us that Warren "will not go to Rutgers".

Desean Holmes: As was first reported here the other day, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has spoken with former 2015 four-star wide receiver recruit Desean Holmes within the last week, and a visit to Ann Arbor appears to be a real possibility at this point.

What's interesting is that this may be a Jim Harbaugh production more than anything, as the news regarding Holmes caught one of our sources by surprise.

Holmes is the cousin of 2017 five-star cornerback Darnay Holmes, and the Wolverines appear to be putting themselves in prime position with Darnay by potentially giving Desean a chance after his first stop at San Diego State did not work out. This is still a developing situation in my opinion and more information will be needed (and gathered) on it.

Malone-Hatcher: As 247Sports National Analyst Steve Wiltfong reported on Saturday evening, St. Joseph (MI) 2017 four-star defensive end Corey Malone-Hatcher is set to make his college announcement in the very near future.

Everything we've been told remains positive on Michigan's end here.

The timing of his announcement is not a coincidence as Michigan is a borderline lock to reel in Top100 DE Luiji Vilain and has emerged as the favorite for Toledo (OH) Central Catholic four-star defensive end James Hudson as well (more on this later).

One of the storylines we've mentioned now for a while is that Malone-Hatcher may have had to make a decision sooner rather than later if he wanted to save a spot. According to a couple people I've talked to, Michigan is not going to hold spots for in-state stars outside of Donovan Peoples-Jones, who wants to enroll early anyways.

Slaton: There are a lot of rumors that some schools down south are moving Fort Lauderdale (FL) American Heritage five-star offensive lineman Tedarrell Slaton down their recruiting boards.

This is apparently for a couple of reasons: One, he didn't necessarily look great this spring when some staffs were out to see the team. Two, he's reportedly very serious about potentially playing college basketball instead of football and would take a scholarship from a lower-level school to be on the hardcourt.

What's interesting is that we aren't necessarily convinced that Michigan is one of the programs that's moved him down. Our sources say the offensive staff is still enamored with him. The good news here is that he is expected to come up with Kai-Leon Herbert for the Big Man camp next month, so the staff should get a first-hand look at how he performs.

Bits
- There will probably be a bunch of bits like this coming up, but you can count 2018 four-star linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu among those who will be at the Northern California satellite camp at Antioch HS on June 24th. Tuliaupupu is already high on what the Wolverines have to offer.

- One of the less talked about satellite camps on Michigan's list this month is the one at Blue Springs (MO) HS. However, 2018 four-star defensive tackle Trevor Trout is among those who may attend. This is potentially significant for two reasons. One, our best St. Louis source says that Trout is the best player in the state and is a potential five-star prospect down the road.

- I'm very close to putting in 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for both of the Ademilola twins out of New Jersey to Michigan. A couple other schools are negatively recruiting the heck out of Michigan in this recruitment, but I don't believe it's going to work in the end. A couple conversations need to be had, and after those take place, I will likely move forward.

- Put this note in the "save for later" pile, but with Baylor not only imploding in their current 2017 class but with some 2016 signees as well, I expect Michigan to at least put out some feelers with some of the players who are looking around. This would potentially include five-star offensive line signee Patrick Hudson and four-star defensive end signee Brandon Bowen among others.
