I could definitely see Showtime rolling with Invicta which could be interesting if they put some backing into it considering the lack of depth in women's MMA could cause interesting competition over talent acquisitions with UFC (gives more viable option for fighters like Coenen, Cyborg who've had issues with Zuffa) and the fact they can showcase multiple weight classes of talent whereas UFC is essentially banking on one women.

And possibly Gina since we all know she can never make 135lb

She can get to this weight. We have an expert who can help you lose weight in a healthy way. We have Mike Dolce, who has wrestlers lose weight and still feel good and it’s all about your diet. He is 100 percent ready to work with her and will not cost anything to Cris… Cyborg needs to get on the boat. If she wants to fight in the UFC, she’ll have to fight this category of 135 pounds. The stupidest thing about it is that she has Tito Ortiz as his manager.”

LOL@Dana, this definitely speaks volumes

Overeem vs Valasquez?

Or maybe Chael can talk himself into a fight with Overeem? lol

"
Today I went for my license," Overeem told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) following the hearing. "I'm very happy to inform you guys that I got licensed to fight Feb. 2 in the UFC against 'Bigfoot' Silva.

"For me, it's now back to work, back to entering the gym. I'm already basically in shape, so it's just a couple more weeks of grinding it, and then it's going to be showtime again."

I really don't get wtf Joe Silva is doing over there making fights like Okami VS Lombard. What is he doing with Okami? Why are they having a fighter who Silva just beat and isn't a fan favorite/or a style favorite to watch fight top contenders? Why is he making fights like Bisping VS Vitor.

They're okay fights, but he's just killing big money fights against Anderson with guys he already beat. They pay Lombard one of the highest contracts in MMA and he's fighting Okami? I just don't get it. I never thought he was the best matchmaker anyways. He's good but sometimes but i don't get it.

Ive been trying to figure this out for the past two years. Theyve done a shytty job of building up the newer guys, and recyling some of the vets. Theyve been stringing some guys along to make co main events, instead of matching them up to get clear cut contenders.

They need a great white hype and Bisping isn't likable enough

I might get flack for this but I loved Pride's matchmaking and philosophy. They had fun fights that people wanted to see. Sometimes it's a freak show match, sometimes it's a fun style-clash matchup, or a real competitive matchup.

It was entertaining but they still had incredible fighters and matches to maintain credibility while having those fun matches. Also, Pride wasn't so win-oriented or title-oriented. It was more about how good a fight you were able to make it. Your stock can actually go up in a loss rather than like in UFC where you lose one and you're at the bottom of the pile and lose 2 and you're worried about being cut. It makes for fighters to fight safe rather than to fight exciting.

Pride was more about People's champions. I think UFC missed out on making once-a-year super-events of Pride vs UFC or Strikeforce vs UFC when they acquired them. I still think they should have like a yearly tournament where fighters can fight up to 3 times in a night to take that year's Tournament Champ title.

It would sell like hot cakes and if you offer like $1M to the winner, you better believe big names would throw their hat in the ring.

That's why I said earlier in this thread that its a slap in the face when they offer someone like Anderson a 10 fight deal

I've been saying for years they need to implement tournaments. Not necessarily all in one night, because I doubt the athletic commissions would sanction that..but a tournament in general would be dope.

As great as Spider is, nobody tryna see this dude fight in his 40s. Its a slap to us fans. Theyre too busy hanging on to the past, while the sport is evolving. If they dont keep up with the times, UFC is gonna get left behind. Problem with that, is that even though there are rival companies, they still lean on UFC for that exposure, because people still generally think UFC=MMA

Ill probably shyt on Joe Silva again on the podcast...thats probably why they didnt give me media credentials for the Dos Santos Vs Velasquez II :jawalrus:

This whole Eddie Alvarez contract situation is a mess with Bellator trying to sue him now. They should just let him walk because it is obvious he wants to go to the UFC and tying him up in court is only bad PR for them. If they do force him to sign, he won't be happy there.

Eddie is gonna end up doing this to them as soon as someone touches him in his next fight

Bellator is within their "rights" I guess but it's not a good look especially going forward "do well for yourself but not TOO well here, because we frown upon those looking to leave"

is what bellator doing even legal? matching everything the ufc contract said to the letter when in reality they cant match it..For the simple fact unlike ufc, bellator dont operate on a ppv model. And their fighters fight 2x a year at most

i never thought this eddie alavarez situation would get this bad. if i wasn't a mma fan and read about this I would think dude was the lebron of mma or sum shyt with the negotiations going on. i don't think he worth the money . exciting fighter he is but i don't think he beats the top guys at ufc, bendo, gilbert, nate shyt i even think lauzon could beat him. not a good look for bellator, and im rooting for them as a league.

bellator can't give alvarez fight bonuses and ppv cuts, and all the other money they give out to fighter. i don't think they meant word for word literally but, close to it.
