regarding Anderson, has he ever been dropped in a fight?
Never dropped...

Worst thats happened is being rocked by Sonnen... Silva didn't respect Chael's hands and his chin got touched. Incredible recovery though.

Barnett is fun to see fight and cuts a decent interview, he belongs talent wise no question but I dunno why you go about the hastle and risk of signing and promoting a guy who has been popped 3 times and is completely unapologetic over it, im surprised but oh well. I hope him and Mir get signed up for November or so. Makes it laughable when Dana gives the "I hate cheaters, TRT etc" lip service tho.

I'm happy Barnett is in the UFC. He's the one guy I wanted to see fight Fedor in their prime. He had the skills and size to possibly give Fedor a run.

He's still a monster and UFC HW is thin so he'll give a good run.

I can't lie. Barnett v Fedor had me nervous during the lead up to affliction 3 before it all fell apart. He had a style that coulda made things ugly for Fedor at that time between having a damn good chin, slick trips and smothering top game. People don't generally make it back up if Barnett gets on top of them.

Only 1 reason, the top 15 HW's currently are a sad sad bunch. And really, the UFC's HW division has always been top heavy. It's one of the reasons why Pride was as big as it was, as they had the top HW's for many many years.

Thats the part I jus dont get in this post, so many ppl boostin up Weidman like hes a great finisher and already proven, when he's beaten the likes of Galvao? We talkin a match against the Anderson, and dis dude Weidman gotta prop up victories over Galvao

Well he didn't beat Galvao. I'm just using the fact that he was so competitive with Galvao in 2009 to show that his finishing skills on the ground are incredible. Weidman is so good at finishing head-and-arm chokes from the top because he doesn't really ground and pound. he just stays heavy on controlling the head until he can sink a choke. So by not striking on the floor, he doesn't really give many openings for counters or escapes because he's not posturing to strike down. I think Anderson Silva will win and I want him to win. Silva's my favorite fighter of all time after BJ Penn and I don't want his winning streak to end on Chris Weidman.

I said l&p because weidman has no other way of beating silva, not standing or with jitz u clearly think he can win via submission :leon: cant believe you made a comparison between andre galvao and arguably the greatest mixed martial artist :leon:

I disagree because I think that Weidman will not be able to lay and pray on Silva for 5 rounds without Silva finding a way to finish the fight. That's what Silva does...he finds a way to finish. Chael had the blueprint for beating Silva but couldn't get it done. 5 rounds is too long with the Spider. He's gotta be finished IMO to be beaten.

Again I'm not comparing Galvao and Silva. I am saying that if Weidman can latch on deep darce chokes and Peruvian neckties on Andre Galvao...that shows Weidman's potential for controlling and finishing on the ground. If Weidman can't choke out Silva he won't win. And again, I don't think he will win. Anderson Silva is the best for a reason.

Because of his susceptibility to bjj experts which as u readily pointed out weidman does not have so why mention sonnen in this convo?

:what: it seems u are throwing out a lot of scenarios but are apprehensive about standing behind them. There is a higher probability that anderson gets lax with his wrist control and weidman manages to slip in an elbow than the match ending via submission breh

I dapped you because you had good arguments, not because you didn't agree. And it's good discussion. :manny:

I mentioned Sonnen because I was trying to reference that Silva always finds a way to win.

Maybe I am being apprehensive. If so I apologize. My prediction I stand behind is that Silva will win this fight via TKO/KO in the 2nd round.

I just think that Weidman doesn't get some of the credit I think he deserves for his BJJ level, and I genuinely believe that's the X-Factor for Weidman. Maybe it is more likely Weidman lands an elbow, but just knowing how he grapples, he isn't the type to sit in closed guard and drop elbows. He will try to put himself in top half guard or pass to side control and work a 3/4 nelson or front headlock until he can work his darce/guillotine/anaconda sequence. I don't think his gameplan would be to hang out in Silva's closed guard and drop elbows down. He specifically strikes less on the ground so he can advance position and sink chokes.

Again I know this comes off like I'm saying Weidman's gonna take it. i just get a little too detailed when I post sometimes man, and I was trying to make a point about Weidman's ground game.

How do you think the fight will end?

160 countdown for those that haven't seen it:

Who I want to win:

Cowboy over Noons
Grant over Maynard [Not a fan of Maynard at all, dude is whiny and cocky]
Glover over Te-Huna [Te-Huna seems a cool dude as well]
JDS over Hunt [Fan of Hunt, but can never root against my fav. HW JDS]
Cain over BigFoot [Bigfoot seems like a nice guy though, plus he's been pulling off pretty big upsets in his last two fights]

Who I think will win:

Cowboy in a back and forth striking war.
Maynard is the better fighter overall, I see him getting the better of Grant wherever the fight goes.
Glover will mix it up with takedowns and striking exchanges. Eventually I seeing him getting the submission win. Te-Huna has huge power and is a very tough dude, so he can def. pull of the upset.
JDS will soundly take a UD victory. I think in the early going, the fight will be back and forth, but later on, I see Hunt gassing and JDS picking him apart.
Cain via destruction. Big Foot's only hope is land that big shot, which I don't see happening. Cain is not going to fool around like Overeem, he will dispatch of Big Foot easily.
