It's just as good it's just the roster it too big. If you cut the roster down to the size it was a few years ago and guys were getting those big match ups with each other and rotating title shots quicker it would be as big.

yup i concur, its jus the huge roster, and the glut of mma fights n promotions going on now. Imagine if the UFC had half as many ppvs, fox, fuel, fx, versus, spike etc fights going on. The few cards they would have would be stacked, like they use to be.

[ame=http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kMundrG9jcA]Jon Fitch talks money - YouTube[/ame]

In Jon Fitches 18 fight UFC career, he made a total of $1,020,000.

That includes show money and win money.

He also made roughly $300,000 in bonuses, 2 of the bonuses coming from fights with Georges St-Pierre for the title at UFC 87 ($60,000) and Erick Silva at UFC 153 ($70,000).

So in total, Jon made: $1,200,222.

Jon Fitch says that out of his total earnings, he paid 20% of that to management and the gym.
If you take that number, $1,200,222, divide it by 7 and a half years, I was roughly making $176,000 a year, now remember, that's before management and gym fees. You also have other stuff you have to pay for like equipment, stuff like that.
Now to give you some more perspective, I want to show you the type of money the UFC was making in the shows I was involved in.
According to Jon Fitch, he can only find figures for 15 shows that he fought on and in total for those 15 shows, the UFC made a little over $36,000,000 in gate sales.

Jon Fitch fought on 14 pay per view cards but can only find figures for 4 events that he fought on and out of those 4, the UFC made a total of over $208,000,000.

50-60% of that money goes to whoever the provider is, e.g Comcast, which still leaves them with a total of $104,000,000 for just 4 PPVs.
Now that is an extreme low-ball for the type of money they are making. I fought for them 18 times and those numbers are 15 of those numbers are for the gates and 4 are from the PPVs.
I was one of the fighters who was on the medium to high fighter pay scale. I've never complained about money from when I used to get paid $250.

thats all well and good but i hope ppl arent about to cry exploitation, just fighting on a ppv dont mean shyt.U got to be a headliner or a draw to "demand" real money. And to my knowledge didnt fitch only headline 2 events?Dude never understood/choose not to incorporate the entertainment aspect of the fight game into his 'brand' if the fans arent clamouring for u/u havent been in one memorable fight u cant walk into negotiations with any leverage. He got what he deserved :manny:
funny pic but kind of extreme, when u look through the smoke and mirrors ufc/mma isnt really that popular.U just have to see the landscape and the lack of bonifide stars to know that.A better picture would've been vince and his "independent contractors" in chains. In its day they brought the house down and even today whilst not havin 1/10th of its popularity from the boom period it still sells out everyweek while producing monthly ppvs. Something UFC cant boast

lol yeah right, there's no way he could make 205. you could throw bigfoot's head, just his head alone in the cage like one of those easter island statues and he could fight at featherweight.

that'd be a crazy looking fight though. antonio's obviously some kind of mutant hairless sasquatch and thiago looks like he was born and raised in the SHU program.

Who do you guys think wins between Rashad and Hendo?

I think Dan can catch him with that right hand.

I see that too. Hopefully Rashad has been working hard with Tyrone Spong. I don't think Rashad can out wrestle Dan

The right is too obvious now. Dan won't change him with that. Give 'Shad more credit. I think Dan will win though but i can see Rashad wrestle fukking Dan to a UD.
