Exactly why Pettis should've taken the earliest title shot instead of being greedy and looking for the FW and LW title shots. He could've fought Bendo already instead of having this time off.

Watch him lose a 155 shot to Aldo now. lol. That would be poetic justice.

I said this months ago in here, Pettis moving down for Aldo fight was a stupid move, as the classic rematch against Bendo wldve brought big numbers.

But, really this is all sounding like a setup for BJ Penn to come back for 1 last title fight at 155 against bendo, Bendo shld come out unscathed and then face Aldo on superbowl weeknd.

Why? Any fight, but this one. This was easily going to be FOTY. I'm never going to get my hopes up for a fight. I'm seriously bummed the fukk out.

Problems with this news:

1. KZ is going to get annihilated. He's a very good [and exciting] fighter, but Aldo is better everywhere.

2. I doubt we ever see Pettis/Aldo. Mayne, this fight was the definition of a toss-up, we could've seen Aldo get rocked for the first time. Pettis will likely heal up and fight for the LW title. By far, the most exciting fight/match-up, gone..

3. We don't get to see Lamas/KZ.

4. I heard that it's a torn meniscus, so I doubt we see Pettis fight this year.

On the bright side, this fight will be exciting while it lasts.

Edit: Just read that it's a small tear, so the recovery time is expected to be 4-6 weeks [if all goes to plan]

Not true, he wasn't greedy at all. Since, Pettis was already screwed out of 1 title shot opportunity. He wanted a guaranteed title shot and didn't want to wait around for a possible shot at the LW title. This was made possible with a fight against Aldo [and the FW title]. It was confusing as to why this fight was scheduled so late [the fight was scheduled in 4-5 months time]

One of the reasons why Aldo needs to move up in weight, his weight cut is only getting harder and harder, and for him to do back to back fights only 3 months in between, is too much for him either mentally or physically to handle. As the proper eating, dieting, training will just be more strenuous. Plus add in any lingering injuries.

And with all that being said, I think Pettis if still wants to go down in weight will miss a year and a half, as even when his knee is better, to get back in that shape to mk weight will be difficult. He will be forced to come back at LW and by then, Aldo will probably be there too.

had a sad feeling that we weren't gonna get that fight damn.. . I wish Pettis had been able to get a fight with Bendo, that rematch would be money. Granted I think Benson would decision him if they fight soon. He's got that prime Matt Hughes champion bully wrestler pedigree working for him

KZ is gonna likely get hurt by Aldo :to:

I dont think that Pettis would come up with a fake injury with a title fight just a month and change away. If this was just a regular fight, I would be in the fake injury camp though. I agree though now that he wont fight at 145, and go back up to 155.

This does free up Henderson/ Aldo for Dec. though (if they both win their next fights easily/ without injury)

Hendo is fighting Grant in Sept

If Aldo's cardio/weight cut isn't right....KZ can win this fight. But I expect the 1st 2 rounds to be SUPER dangerous for KZ. If he can get through that, he can pressure Aldo midway.

And I never wanted to see Aldo fight Pettis right now anyway. I need to see Henderson and Pettis rematch. Wouldn't mind Grant getting "injured" and Joe and Dana make the rematch we all need. :datazz:

Everybody made weight at the weigh-ins...I got a funny feeling Miocic might win tomorrow...dudes hyping Roy up too much and it's a fight on short notice, I think.

I know. Thats why I said Dec. Henderson is the only champion that seems to actually fight every 3-4 months. He could be ready for Pettis in Dec. A main/co-main of Henderson/Pettis and Rousey/Tate would be a great end of year card.
