Zombie, Frankie, Aldo :umad: and

Faber.....circa 2009

Faber is not a FW fighter right now, so that's one no. The Korean Zombie is one of my favourite fighters but he's a no as well. KZ is 3-2 in the UFC/WEC, while Mendes is 7-1 in the UFC/WEC (with his only lose coming to Aldo). Mendes also has better quality wins than KZ and has not lost to the likes of Roop and Garcia (I had KZ winning this fight though). Based on his LW accomplishments, I will give you Frankie. Also, Aldo [being champ] is an obvious one.

Based on that, Mendes is at least a top 3 FW.

How is KZ ranked too high when he is the next in line for the title shot?

Just becuase you are the next in line for a title, that doesn't automatically make you the second best fighter in the division. For example, when Hardy fought for the title, he was def. not the 2nd best WW (7th ranked WW at that time). Another example was Demain Maia, he def. was not the second best MW when he fought for the title. There are many more examples.

My ranking are based on accomplishments/wins. Becuase of that, KZ is too high. Read my response to 'Meet the Sniper' right above for more of an explanation as to why KZ is ranked too high.

Here is the logic for the list

Korean Zombie vs Porier was #1 contender fight hence his place.

Koch is a top prospect to yet fight for the title and though he was more given a title shot then earned I like his chances against Aldo.

Mendes is the the 2nd best in FW , but should have to take a one to two more fights before a title shot hence his place. Edgar is unproven at FW hence in the middle since we have no idea what a weight cut will do to him.

I am very high on Oliveria and feel he could be a star in the making and think a Mendes-Oliveria fight would be very logical at this point also explaining their rankings.

Jimy Hettes is a very high level fighter and deserves his place

Hikoi is imo 1-2 and not worthy of a top 10 spot he is probably number 11, him vs. Nam Phan would make sense to show who deserves the tenth spot.

https://twitter.com/vitorbelfort/status/241517923318001664

reported by Ariel Helwani as well.

Koch would get SLAUGHTERED by Aldo. His chances are very thin. I'd actually favour Vitor's chances over Jones, than Koch's over Aldo.

I'm high on Oliveria and Hettes as well, but that doesn't mean they deserve a spot amongst the best in the division.

Nam Phan is not even in the top 15 in the division. Since joining the UFC Nam has had a losing record (2-3), with his two wins coming over Garcia and Cole Miller. Pretty crappy.

Hioki's wins over Bart P., Roop and Sandro is a better resume than 6 or 7 of the fighters in your top 10.

FYI Bly reason zombie did not get a shot is he's injured and had surgery ... It's the reason why Koch got the shot to begin with and the reason he's not booked for the Macau card in november

Just make a list then, solves the problem of this fiction of us playing fantasy match maker.

I do not make top 10 rankings based on skill, I place it on title considerations and showings in the division.

The type of fighter that will beat Aldo will be a hyper aggressive striker who makes him back up. Koch had a very good chance on landing something hard in the first couple of rounds.

maia was a last minute replacement and gsp already beat most of them guys ranked before hardy, cheap examples.

:obama: talented fighter. i think he kept his exact injury a secret, im looking forward to his fight this month.

1. Aldo
2. a) Mendes
2. b) Edgar
4. a) Lamas
4. b) Korean Zombie
6. Hioki
7. Siver
8. Koch
9. Swanson
10. Oliveira

Honorable Mentions: Poirier, Nunes

Like I've stated, my rankings are based on accomplishments/wins.

Aldo EATS strikers up. The only chance a striker (the ones in FW right now) would have against Aldo is a puncher's chance.

The only person with a chance of out-striking him is Frankie. Frankie has a pretty good style to beat Aldo. He has the striking to keep the stand-up close and the wrestling to put Aldo on his back. If Frankie mixes it up [his striking and takedowns], his chances are not that bad. The problem with Frankie is that, he was getting visibly shaken/damaged by Henderson's kicks in their latest fight. Now imagine what Aldo's kicks would do to him.

I'm surprised not many people are taking about the Swanson/Oliveira match-up. That fight is going to be GOOD.

Oliveria will sub him in one round. Swanson will never put a run together, he gets on two fight streak then will suffer a terrible loss similar to Roop

While I do think Oliveria's going to win, his striking defence has me worried, especially considering Swanson has pretty good power.

tonight was the night for UFC 151 :snoop:

I'm happy with the way this played out, now I get to be there to see Jones/Belfort fight for the LHW title. Plus, Joe B/Mighty Mouse, Stann/Bisping, Swanson/Oliveria and more. :D

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Cub/Olivera a lot. It has sleeper fight of the night written over it, their styles should make for an exciting fight.
