Wait wait, he was saying that Diaz is more dangerous than Edgar? I assumed he meant when Conor was going to face RDA :dead:Nate Diaz has 4 (T)KOs in his entire career, including 2 cans and his best scalp is broken Gray Maynard. Guess who broke that boy's chin? FRANKIE EDGAR. So before people can just go with discounting Frankie KOing Mendes faster than anybody and ignoring the fact that he wasn't taken down, unlike Conor and Aldo, just remember that. Edgar is more dangerous and more proven than 10 losses Diaz. I've been picking Edgar to beat Conor for a long time, anyway.:birdman:Oh and Benson dropped Diaz multiple times when he was at the height of his game (beat Miller and Cerrone) and Nate didn't win a second of that match. Edgar had 2 close fights with Benson and dropped him once. :myman:
People are going out of their way to overrate Nate after that Conor fight.

I'm not saying he's not a great fighter, but Frankie would destroy him at 155.

Holding out for a rematch at a title is not the same as ducking. And that's one person. What about Zingano, Tate, etc?

(1) Yes

(2) The belt is a trinket used to sucker in some fans...For other fans, it often gets in the way of the most interesting fights that can be made...Look at what it is doing to you and the mma media because McGregor is not too keen to defend it soon... :russ:

Another example, when Holly Holm had the belt, she was on some "I am here to fight...I fight for the love it...I will fight Cybog" shiz, she loses the belt, and the Cyborg fight is now a REAL possibility, and now she doesn't want it because she knows Miesha Tate is the EASIEST fight and it comes with a belt...Suddenly that warrior talk is out the window...

(3) Let us look at Aldo's Championship run...25% of his title defenses were against Chad Mendes (2/7)...Dude did not wreck the FW division...He fought selected guys...So, we don't really know if he can go down that division and beat anybody not named Conor McGregor...Because Champs don't defend by going down the list of their division...

Since it is pretty clear that styles make fights, how legitimate is a championship if he thought 1 guy twice, and Kenny Florian and Frankie were a selected contenders...

The ONLY legitimate Champ is Jon Jones...Dude beat 1 champ after the other...He literally went through a dark tunnel filled with BEASTS and came out on the other side...

(4) I am not saying this diss Aldo...I am just using him as example to express why I believe for the most part, Belts and Rankings are USELESS...They are there to keep fans and the media talking...

But most Champs don't go down the list to defend the belt...They are given selected opponents...Even Conor McGregor, his championship is SUPER SUSPECT...He was given strategic opponents...I DO NOT believe McGregor could start at #11 and move up the FW division...If that was the path to the championship, MOST champs would not make it to the top...

Only Jon Bones Jones would have the best chance...

This is legit one of the stupidest post I've seen in this entire thread.

So what?! I guess they should just schedule Conor/Diaz 3 since that'll sell more. :comeon: Edgar/McGregor would have been exciting and they could have put Diaz on the card against RDA. Having your healthy champ fight 2 weight classes in a rematch against a guy he couldn't go two rounds with while 2 contenders in his actually weight class fight each other makes no damn sense no matter how you put it. And why even sht on Edgar's win streak. He won his last fight, :sas1:unlike McGregor:sas2:.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a Connor/Diaz 3. If Connor beats Diaz somehow/some way, u don't think Diaz will want a rematch. We all know the fight will sell. Connor eating a hot dog on the sidewalk will sell rite now. He has the marketing machine behind him, and ufc gonna strike while the iron is hot. Just like they did with Ronda when she was hot.

Now I luv Frankie Edgar as a fighter, I'm not hating on em and yes he wld prolly destroy most fighters in that weight class. And yes sometimes he can be an exciting fighter, but lately he hasn't been a major draw. His last 4 fights were ufc fight nights not leading big ppvs. He hasnt mained a ppv in 3 yrs and that ppv didn't do too good either.

UFC is bein smart, easy money Connor vs Diaz sells well. Throw Edgar n aldo under it. Whoever wins is seen winning by prolly 1milliom in ppv purchases they now get marketed and u can start the hype train behind them for the next fight.

It's all buisness 101. Gotta remember as fans, ufc is a sports entertainment company. This isn't the Olympics or a bjj tournament where the best gotta face da best. Ufc out here 2 make money 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Not put out fair fights or guys who deserve fights. I know that sucks but that's da way it is so every1 stop bein mad n shyt about it and jus enjoy da ride. Now we get 2 see Edgar VA aldo again and hopefully Connor vs da winner again. We get 2 see Diaz talk more shyt and serve up some more 2 piece special to Connor.

Aldo is being a baby...
I still believe that McGregor got lucky, but the fact is that Aldo got slumped...He needs to go the gym and get back to beast mode...Kill anybody the UFC puts in front of him, and make a case for himself to be given the opportunity to fight for title again...

This "I am only going to fight if it is a title fight" shiz is NONSENSE...That is NOT champion talk...That is someone who knows that he can be beaten trying to avoid another defeat...Yes, he was champ for 10 years, but he only defended the title 7 times...

Aldo was not a dominant champ...He fought safe fights and tried to win by points...He seldom fought to his FULL potential...I hear he is a BJJ Black Belt, but we haven't seen that in his UFC fights...He had that Canadian boy LUMPED, but he never made an attempt to take him down and submit him, because he was winning and was ok to win by decision...
I'll just respectfully disagree and mosey on my way. . .

So you're saying Mighty Mouse couldn't run through the top 10 Flyweights in the company, and he's not a legitimate champion :dwillhuh:
(1) I am saying, "we don't know" and we are just guessing, and that is EXACTLY what Belts and rankings are created to do...To make us have "what if" arguments...

(2) Mighty Mouse fought Benevidez twice, and Dobson twice that's almost half his title defenses...

(3) In sports there is OFTEN a lowly ranked opponent who by all odds beats the champ...Matt Sera beat GSP...Miesha Tate beat Holly Holm without even fighting for the majority of the fight...

Therefore, I don't think I am crazy for doubting that any champ not named Jon Bones Jones can go down the Division Ranking List and beat everyone...I SERIOUSLY doubt it...

Even Jon Bones Jones could have lost to Gustafason if one of the judges was in a different mood...

It is EXTREMELY hard to go down the list and beat EVERYONE...That is why it is NOT done (other than for financial reasons of course)...

(4) That is the reason why fighters often chose to sit out and wait for their title shots...Consider Tyron Woodley, this guy believes that he is good enough to be champ, so why isn't he fighting? Why did Holly Holm decline Cyborg, and is refusing to fight unless it is Miesha Tate?

Fighters KNOW they can't just go down and up the Ranking List and beat everybody...
