The highly-anticipated Rory MacDonald vs. Carlos Condit rematch is off.

According to sources close to the fight, MacDonald suffered an undisclosed injury in training, which has forced him to withdraw from his fight against Condit at UFC 158.

No opponent has been signed to replace MacDonald against Condit next month. As of now, he is still expected to compete on the card.

UFC 158, headlined by Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz, will take place March 16 at Bell Centre in Montreal.

Maia? Woodley?

Saffeidine would be a great match up stylistically against Condit but I just don't see him stepping in on short notice against such a high caliber opponent. He's in a good position to take a controlled path to an eventual title shot whereas I think Maia and to an even greater extent Woodley are eager to get out there and try to leapfrog the rankings.

I think Woodley will step in and Maia/Saffeidine is the co-main for that Vitor/Rockhold card in Brazil

Canadian contender Rory MacDonald (14-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) has suffered a neck injury in training and has been forced to withdraw from a planned UFC 158 matchup with Carlos Condit (28-6, 5-2). However, the "Natural Born Killer" will still face a fellow top-ranked opponent as Johny Hendricks (14-1, 9-1) has agreed to fill the open slot. Ellenberger is still expected to compete at the event against an opponent to be determined.

White also revealed his first selection to fill MacDonald's position was incoming Strikeforce welterweight champion Tarec Saffiedine (14-3, 0-0). However, the UFC boss said the Belgian fighter turned down the opportunity, allowing Hendricks to step in against Condit.

Hendricks will now be facing Condit, Tarec turned down the fight. Still no opponent for Ellenberger.

Condit/Hendricks should be a great fight. I have Condit taking it.

Wonder who faces Ellenberger. My guess is Woodley, he really wanted to be a replacement for any injured fighter on the 158 card.

And if Hendricks loses, who's next in line for the WW title?

fukk this sucks. I was looking forward to Condit giving MacDonald the beats.

I kind of don't like that Hendricks has to face Condit. Once again, if Hendricks loses, they're killing off the top contender with a guy that won't get a title shot. Still it's the best fight to make.

It sounds like Woodley will fight Ellenberger now.

Tarec is a dummy man. Just two days ago Dana gave that interview about how you better never turn down Joe Silva because if you do Joe is a "mean little fukker." lol Not the best way to come into the UFC.

I fukking hate injuries.

Rory's always pulling out of his fights after he just said he wants to fight 3 times a year :mindblown:

Hope Maia submits his ass when he comes back

word. I hadn't even thought of that. Now that he's available (assuming it's not that bad) Maia should fight him.
