I keep hearing he's talented but I haven't really seen shyt in the octagon. He beat a bunch of cans and a depressed Mir and has looked like dog shyt ever since. He's very, very lucky to still be in the UFC and is making far more than he should. He's 4-5 since that hot start and his wins are over Reese Andy, Mike Patt, Krzysztof Soszynski and Eliot Marshall
He, at best, drew in that Marshall fight too.

Shogun has the main event slot on network TV against an opponent he should look good against and beat, not too bad for him.
Another injury as Michael Bisping is out of his fight with Tim Boetsch and Boetsch faces Lombard now.
the main event is a good look no doubt, so its like he's good enough to main event, but not to fight anyone serious. and if shogun whoops him, he whooped a ass fighter, if shogun has trouble or a bad match, he had trouble/an ugly fight vs a p4p bum. no opportunity in that match for him. least itll be pure striking tho.
boey/lombard should be violent too..

It doesn't raise his stock if he wins, but its not like Shogun is marching towards another title shot now

You also forget a controversial decision against Randy Couture at UFC 105 in which a lot of people including me felt was a draw at the LEAST. But i do agree he is lucky to still be with the UFC but i do see some talent when he fights. his striking is above average and He was getting the best of Thiago Silva on the feet but his takedown defense is ATROCIOUS
With that said Shogun is one of my favorite fighters and i think now that hes back with Andre Dida if his knees are ok (which they havent been in a hot min
) he should be in great shape to mop the floor with Vera
Depending on how he wins on national tv this should put him back in contention for the title seeing as people really debated that Henderson fight was a draw.
After Shogun wins they need to set up that Shogun VS Rashad that was originally was suppose to happen last year

Some people don't seem to be able string their talent together with the ability to perform when the pressure is on. Vera is one of those cats. I've gotten to roll in a seminar with him before, he's very slick. For someone with a greco background he's almost too easy to take down tho. Yeah he's lucky Thiago Silva was trying to use antelope piss to mask roids or he'd be in Bellator. Which is where I expect him to be after Shogun puts the beats on him.
If Rashad remembers he's a wrestler he can dryhump a decision out of Shogun next

not so much trying to get rid of vera (hes not that important for zuffa to hatch a plan against) as it is trying to rebuild a valuable commodity in shogun
