and I bet when Jones moves up, they are going to have him fight someone weak like Cormier[.. Cormier is trying to bait him. I don't believe he will cut weight to go down to fight Jones.

Anyway, does anyone know why Sonnen is supposed to be some sort of ganster??

Cormier is a top 5 HW, how is he in any way 'weak'?

Jones called Matt Mitrione a scumbag for saying what he said about that tranny fighter, and Matt has called him out for a fight so that might be his first HW fight.

This. I think Jones should get Nelson, someone with a kind of high profile but not neccessarily in the top 5.

whats the point of putting a can into the ring with jones?

if hes going to fight a hw make it a legit hw

There is zero chance you will ever see Jon Jones fight Matt Mitrione. Not even on the same level in any way. He'll be fighting a top 5 guy if he decides he wants a fight before a title shot

The Last of the Outlaws
The interview also covered the future looking past Sonnen, specifically a fight with UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

“Is this interview live?" asked Jones. "Yeah definitely, there will be a time, there will come a time. One day, I said it first here. Normally I beat around the bush, but it’s going to happen for sure.”

Unless Silva is retiring on it win or lose I really don't wanna see this fight. He's knocking on 40 and would be fighting a 25 year old who will be a likely be a legitimate HW within a year.

I get that the guard eventually gets changed but I guess the selfish part of me enjoys the fact that Silva's run has been near flawless in the UFC that I don't wanna see it end. He's got that old school Gracie mystique down pat

Does Daniel even want to go to 205?
- Daniel Cormier is currently non-committal on whether his future home lies at heavyweight or light heavyweight, but UFC president Dana White may have sweetened the pot for a downward shift down to 205.

White has consistently said that weight classes are ultimately the athlete's decision, but while speaking to reporters at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, he voiced his own preference for Cormier's future, saying the road to gold could have a shortcut for him with the right move.

"He could drop to 205 and get a shot at the title in my opinion, on day one," he said. "Look at the guys he's beat at heavyweight."

It is not yet currently known if the 34-year-old Cormier could make the number due to kidney issues he sustained during his amateur wrestling career while cutting weight. In his last three fights, he has checked in at 235, 230 and 238 pounds, respectively. To make the light heavyweight championship fight limit, he would have to get down to 205 or less.

Cormier remains unbeaten at 12-0 with five knockouts and three submissions, and even though he won the Strikeforce heavyweight Grand Prix and knocked out current UFC No. 1 contender Antonio Silva earlier in his career, White voiced concerns about whether heavyweight was the right long-term home for him.

"I actually prefer him at 205," he said. "This heavyweight division isn’t like other heavyweight divisions. And in saying that, he beat Josh Barnett. That’s a big deal. I just don’t think he has the punching power at heavyweight that he’d have at 205."

Last week, Cormier said a decision on his future may come within the next week. With White's declaration as well as the light heavyweight division's need for a new top contender after this weekend's UFC 159 match between Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen, he has something new to add to his deliberations.

I still got Jones winning a split decision...we've seen Jones fatigue in the past(Bonnar, Rua, some say the Rashad fight) and Sonnen may have even more stamina since he hasn't had to drain himself for this fight. And you know Sonnen is coming right at him non-stop tonight. I see them both getting a couple takedowns and Sonnen is gonna make this fight ugly.

I think Belcher beats Bisping...maybe even stops him. More dangerous striker...bigger...might have better jiujitsu, too...but none of that matters if Bisping keeps taking him down.

The Vinny-Phil fight could be an uneventful kickboxing affair...I can't see Vinny taking Phil down enough(if even) and Phil's just gonna leg kick the crap out of Vinny. Lemme know if Vinny hits hard, though b/c maybe he could land something then follow on the ground.

Cormier can make the cut. He weighed in at 230 vs. Staring, he should be able to get another 25 down if he works with Dolce.

I don't think he'll perform as good at 205 though for what it's worth.
