Thats pretty strange, over the last 5 years I've heard the opposite, that Belfort was one of the most beloved in Brazil and that Anderson never got shown much love. And that is what was behind the Anderson vs Vitor fight, Anderson wanted to beat up their star and reclaim the spot light for himself.

Also remember hearing stuff like Vitor and his wife are all over brazillan tv, in multiple tv ads, and his wife at 1 point was da num1 brazillian super model, and on multiple tv shows and i think did a playboy or sumthin.

here's a great breakdown and post about the rivalry between Silva and Vitor, very on point:

Belfort is popular in Brazil, but is not [for the most part] beloved. He has a good amount of people that dislike/hate him. Right now, Anderson is easily a bigger star. I've heard that the Brazilian media is milking his popularity hard, major magazine covers, commercials, tv shows etc. For a while, Belfort was more popular in Brazil, but not now.

But they have no issue doing this with Anderson who is 1 year older than Cheick? Bizarre

Did you seriously compare Anderson's situation to Kongo's? :pachaha:

Where are you reading this? I'm searching in google and can't find anything about Brazil hatin on Vitor or nething inless its from directly Silva's camp, his home town or fans of the soccer team Silva is a sponsor for. In fact, I even stumbled upon a video of ppl calling out Silva and saying he's not the real champ but another fighter who use to train wit Silva in Brazil as bein da real champ and Silva is afraid to ever face em.

^ Check out this thread: http://forums.sherdog.com/forums/f2/list-brazilian-fighters-popularity-brazil-2445845/index10.html

The general consensus is that while Vitor is popular, he's also the most hated. Some quotes from the thread:

Belfort- I mean, he is almost as known as Silva, but people do not like him.

- Vitor Belfort. The guy is probably the closest a fighter will get to perfection regarding communication skills. He is very influent and controversies surrounding him are way less than they should. A reality show made him pretty famous, as stated before, and was a good brainwasher to wipe the image of a badboy drug-user steroid-abuser fighter he had in the past, at least from the simpletons. Also, he's tied to Anderson in popularity nowadays.

Belfort is definitely the hated one, at least around here.

What i know is that most people in this country love Anderson and hate Vitor, specially mma fans after Vitor started doing TRT, deal with it because it is a fact.

The age arguement made no sense, that is why I made the comparison

I clicked the link, there was nothing in there that serves that Belfort is hated in Brazil by Brazillians. Most of the ppl with negative comments were US fans sayin they lost respect because of TRT. and the majority of comments backed up Belfort as being beloved, and his story being out there wit the brazillian big bro and his daughter.

So again I say, I dont think ive ever seen or heard anything about Belfort being hated in Brazil outside of ppl from Silva's camp, soccer tm or hometown.

After a cut forced Costa Philippou out of UFC on FX 8, the main card has been reshuffled.

Chris Camozzi has been shifted into a matchup with former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, while Rafael Natal will take on promotional newcomer Joao Zeferino.

Replace a :snooze: fighter with an even bigger :snooze: fighter. What the fukk are these dudes sparring with in camp?

That's the second SERRA-LONGO FIGHT TEAM member (Weidman) that has pulled out of a fight right when all the contenders in front of him are fighting at the same time. Their new go to move seems to wait until everyone loses.

Sucks

I really wanted to see Jacare dominate Costa and get into the top 10 where he belongs. Oh well. I'll settle for him destroying Camozzi

U know wha, maybe its a blessin in disguise. He gets a warm up fight, gets to pop his UFC cherry. Hopefully he looks very impressive takes home a sub of the night award or sumthin. And then that will help build sum hype outside of the hardcore mma fans.

They don't do events is Florida anymore because it's a terrible market. Bad tickets sales, bad turnout, bad ratings, bad everything. It's probably the only state I've ever seen them publicly state they don't want to go back and hold events. lol

What's crazy is it's home to ATT and Blackzilians. But the events are complete duds.

To be fair, they have always given FL absolute shyt cards. I know that one FX card last year with DJ and Mccall was crap star wise. And i looked up the last one previous to the FX show and it was in 2007 with Sam Stout and Spencer Fisher:flabbyhov: I guarantee you put Belfort or Silva on top of a card around Orlando and that will do numbers. Lots of Brazilians in that area

They have three Cubans from Florida now as well. Romero, Lombard, and Masvidal. I don't know think Cubans watch MMA though.
