So weidman thinks because chael took a broken rib'd anderson silva down several times (UFC 117) that he's just gonna walk in and do the same.
Anderson does have trouble with wrestlers but I don't think Weidman is the one to do it.
Weidman is one of the best wrestler in the UFC right now. He was a 2time NCAA Division I All-American. He beat Bader and Phil Davis in college. He wrestled the same division (he's the only one not fighting at 205, even though he should be). He can take Anderson down. Believe that. He'd beat Chael in a wrestling match now as well.
His BJJ is sick too. That's why everyone is really giving him a chance. This is from 2009...
"The phrase "moral victory" is always met with some skepticism in sports. You either win or you lose, and there's little to be said for "playing hard."
Not in the case of Chris Weidman at ADCC 2009.
Weidman, a 25-year-old understudy of Matt Serra and Ray Longo, won the ADCC East Coast Trials to earn his berth to Barcelona. In the deep and talented 88-kilogram division, a dominant first-round points victory over Spaniard Daniel Tabera on Saturday assured the native New Yorker nothing but crowd hostility, and a quarter-final match-up against one of the best pound-for-pound grapplers in the world, Andre Galvao. Yet, in spite of the gulf in submission experience, the BJJ purple belt was sensational against one of the world's best black belts.
Just seconds into the bout, Galvao locked up a deep omoplata on Weidman, which he used to roll backwards, take Weidman's back, and nearly armbar him. From there, the four-time All-American at Nassau Community College and Hofstra attacked Galvao with brilliant throws from the clinch before the points period, which against nearly any other grappler in the world, would have landed him in dominant position.
Weidman's potent base allowed him to shut down Galvao's deep half guard game, as well as allowing him to attack with submissions of his own. Rather than play the passive points game that many wrestling converts do at ADCC, Weidman trapped Galvao with both a brabo choke and a Peruvian necktie, forcing the multiple-time BJJ world champion to work far harder than was anticipated. Galvao eventually used his savvy to score during the points period, passing guard and earning a 4-0 points victory.
However, the crucial thing to consider is that Weidman's primary focus is MMA -- a venue he's already looked stellar in through his first two fights. For such a novice fighter to be so aggressive and technical in a pure grappling competition against one of the world's best speaks volumes to what a great MMA middleweight Chris Weidman may become."
with all of that said I hope Anderson KO's him in highlight reel fashion.
Boxer Ricardo Mayorga won his MMA debut in a bout filled with fukkery

I have got to see this.I have got to see this.
Weidman said he was training with Uriah Hall to prepare for Anderson, I think that says it all.
right nowman, this was a great read. Im almost tempted to read the entire 65 pages, I mean Ive already read half.Thats pretty strange, over the last 5 years I've heard the opposite, that Belfort was one of the most beloved in Brazil and that Anderson never got shown much love. And that is what was behind the Anderson vs Vitor fight, Anderson wanted to beat up their star and reclaim the spot light for himself.
Also remember hearing stuff like Vitor and his wife are all over brazillan tv, in multiple tv ads, and his wife at 1 point was da num1 brazillian super model, and on multiple tv shows and i think did a playboy or sumthin.
here's a great breakdown and post about the rivalry between Silva and Vitor, very on point:

The 162 card is pretty weak name wise for it to be a big 4th of July show. Plus Silva is fighting an unknown in Weidman basically. They should have the undercard of 161 to build up the Silva card but I know Dana probably wanted to have big names since its the first time they are in that Canadian province
This card is looking really good, especially in terms of excitement. The card pretty much has a mini FW tournament, all fights look to def. deliver. It's pretty BS that Lamas/KZ isn't the co-main, it's a much more significant fight than Edgar/Oliveira.Weidman is one of the best wrestler in the UFC right now. My thing is he keeps saying "I see his weaknesses" etc.. watching tape and being in there when the cage door closes are two different things. He's talking like Anderson will just be there for him to submit or takedown at will.Good post. People need to realize that Weidman is a legitimate threat, although I still see Anderson taking this fight.
