How so? Weidman and Maia are not alike. Weidman is the better striker and is a much much better wrestler. Plus, he's bigger, stronger and more athletic. Weidman has a very strong wrestling base, while Maia has a strong BJJ base with below average wrestling. Most of Maia's takedowns come from the clinch (trips and throws). Anderson shrugged off Maia's TD attempts with ease, I don't see that happening with Weidman.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has fined middleweight titleholder Anderson Silva $50,000 for refusing to take part in a planned pre-UFC 162 media event.

Silva (33-4 MMA, 16-0 UFC) was scheduled to talk with a few of Los Angeles' largest media outlets on Tuesday but ultimately skipped the session and instead flew home to his native Brazil.

yeah comparing the style match ups of maia/silva and weidman/silva was retarded but it will probably go the same way.. cause if maia was getting right back up to his feet when weidman got him down then silva will be doing the same except punishing during the stand up time.. dont remember weidman doing any serious sub threats on maia either..

hopefully weidman has improved alot on his striking and takedowns since then tho cause i wanna see more of silva when he has to fight through adversity liek the lutter, hendo, sonnen fights where he is fighting from under mount or at least tentative during the fight instead of dancing and waiting for his opponent to fukk up

Weidman IS a better MMA wrestler than Hendo and is on about the same level as Chael. Like Shonuf said, what does Hendo's resume have anything to do this [in terms of being a better wrestler]? Hendo got out-wrestled by a terrible wrestler in Shogun. Plus, he got easily out-wrestled by a WW in Shields.

Weidman is a dangerous opponent for Anderson. He has size, strength, is athletic, and most importantly has excellent wrestling and BJJ. Even his striking is coming along nicely. He is one of the toughest opponents that Anderson has faced. I'm not saying that Weidman will win, I just believe that he presents a formidable challenge.

If your comparing how good of a MMA wrestler sum1 is, u gotta compare their records then. Who has Weidman beat to earn this rep? Henderson's mma record is a who who of mma all time. If ur talking about outside mma Henderson is a former Olympian. I'm sorry, but out wrestling Deman Maia, who fights at 170 now proves absolutely nuthin to me.

Munoz stood up both times he went on the ground wit weidman and took no damage, as weidman was bz tryin to do bjj subs, which he didnt land ne of em, and Munoz isn't even as trained in BJJ as Silva is.

When you shyt talking and downplaying the accomplishments and skills of hendo it needs to be called out. How can you hype up a guy in Weidman who has proved nuthin in mma and done nuthin in mma when compared to a great like Hendo? Some of his fights will go down as some all time best in MMA, That pride fight wit Wandy Damn even da fight wit shogun went down as a top 3 fight of the year in da ufc.

I just said Hendo has poor freestyle wrestling which is the truth and has been talked about since before he was in Pride.

Agreed. Maia is a black belt in Judo and like Hendo his takedowns all come from the clinch or off of the clinch into a trip. Anderson covers distance too well for any clinching.

It's crazy i'm in here defending Weidman when I hope he gets knocked out. lol

Come on now, thats downplayin hendo. talkin shyt like he can't shoot a single or a double, yes hendo has competed in greco wrestling BUT he also was National champion for USA FREESTYLE wrestling.

This guy is a walking legend and has competed and won in more events and organizations than Weidman can ever dream of.

With that said, I hope Weidman can live up to the hype and make this fight interesting for a bit, so at least i can get my money's worth when i go to watch this.
