imo this fight was a complete disaster and shouldn't be counted as anything really. For both Maia and Weidman.
So if this fight shouldn't be counted for anything, how are you measuring Weidman as being one of the top MMA wrestlers currently? I doubt your watching all of his training and practice sessions, so you must be basing this off his MMA record, so what fights exactly helped give him this rep? How about this, outside of the Munoz fight has Weidman faced any other top MMA wrestlers to test him so we can actually get a real gauge on his skill level inside the ring? I'm sure beating Sakara and Uriah Hall is a good base to name a guy one of the top mma wrestlers.
I usually judge fighters on a pretty simple scale, your as good as who you have faced. If you went toe to toe with a top champ and still lost but went toe to toe, that gains you some points in my books. If you faced a bunch of low level guys (sakara, bonfeldt, lawlor) then how can i rate you as top shelf in any skill. To b da best, u gotta beat da best. not the 8th or 10th or 25th best.
