Silva is the definition of a martial artist. He will strike and finish this guy in the 2nd Round in the middle of that cage, and it will bring me great joy because he is friends with a mutual acquaintance who pops off a lot about martial arts but probably couldn't do 30 push ups to save his life.

Destroy this young pup, Anderson...ruin 4th of July weekend for these O'Fays :blessed:

you definitely right about that, imo silva is well round got a nice little stand up game.

i was checking out various MMA site read this:

At UFC 162 Anderson Silva will defend his middleweight title against perhaps his stiffest test to date in undefeated Chris Weidman. At a media scrum on Thursday, UFC President Dana White commented that most fighters he's talking to, including Georges St-Pierre are picking Weidman to dethrone the champion:

"All the pros, when you talk to all the fighters - every fighter out there that I've talked too that we've interviewed thinks Weidman is going to beat him [Silva]. Georges St. Pierre thinks he's going to win so much that he didn't even want to plan to fight Anderson."

Ed Soares explains how Anderson Silva can lose to Chris Weidman at UFC 162

Ed Soares, manager to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, among others, says "The Spider" is capable of losing just like any other mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, despite dominating the 185-pound weight class over the last seven years with relative ease.

After all, no one is "invincible."

Before you start screaming betrayal on Ed's part, he says that can only happen if Silva doesn't go into a fight healthy, focused and with a good training camp behind him. If he crosses off those items on his "to do" list, then no fighter can come close to beating him.

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding, as Silva has run roughshod over the 185-pound division, leaving a trail of destruction behind him to the tune of 16 straight wins inside the Octagon, including 10 straight title defenses.

If that wasn't impressive on its own, he holds three wins over James Irvin, Stephan Bonnar and Forrest Griffin at light heavyweight.

But, an unfocused Silva is beatable, as Soares explained on "The MMA Hour:"

"Anybody can go out there and put on a fight. Chris Weidman is undefeated, he's a tough guy and a fight is a fight, anything can happen. I believe in Anderson Silva. Anderson Silva is the best fighter on the planet. I think Anderson Silva is a bad fight for any fighter in any weight class. I'm not saying Anderson Silva is invincible. Anderson Silva can be beat just like anyone else can get beat. But I think if Anderson Silva goes in there well trained and focused, I don't think there's a fighter on the planet that can beat him."

UFC always does this carnival hillbilly shyt to hype fights. Weidmans a tough opponent but Anderson is definitely not the underdog. How people bet doesnt lie a out how they view a fight.

^^^^^I can't wait.

The Sonnen/Weidman comparison doesn't ring with me well.

Sonnen is more athletic, has a more tested chin and is more unpredictable.

When's the last time someone heavy-handed took it to Chris? I can't remember how well Sakara did...I don't remember him buzzing Weidman any in that fight. We don't know how he'll react to Anderson's lasers. Weidman doesn't seem very athletic from the 3 or 4 fights of his that I've seen. Sonnen was able to blast across and up under Silva. I see Weidman more of a big, strong technician. His striking and wrestling isn't explosive. He's like a rich man's Phil Davis to me......we shall see. :manny:

And Chael was 3/7 on takedowns in the first fight and 1/3 in the second...that's not dominant wrestling...Silva, barring stopping him with the 1st strike he throws(doubtful), will get taken down but he'll probably stuff the majority of attempts...Silva's weakness is getting up, not defending TDs. And that weakness may be more self-imposed since he may just be stalling for a stand up instead of trying to sweep/sub/scramble.

Spot on. The reason why Sonnen was able to dominate and use effective wrestling against Silva was because of his hands. He was able to catch Silva multiple times. From what I have seen, Weidman has the slowest hands in the MW division. If his plan is to just dive in for TD all night then good luck. He wasn't able to completely dominate Munoz on the ground. Plus the long lay off and shoulder surgery are factors to consider. The UFC hype for this is just :beli: Got all these fighters just talking about Weidman like the second coming. Only in the MW division(and HW) can a guy like Weidman get a title shot in this fashion

weidman doesn't even wrestle like sonnen. weidman doesn't have the power-take-you-down-or-drive-you-through-the-cage double leg that sonnen does. he's a good wrestler, still, but he's different. he's probably gonna have to get into more clinch situations to get takedowns, which is dangerous, cuz silva's a boss in the clinch. so i think people who are saying "just follow chael's blueprint" are off a bit.

weidman's more of a threat than chael if it gets to the mat but i think he'll have a harder time getting silva down...which he obviously needs to do to have a chance to win.

i'm gonna say andy by 3rd round tko, started with a knee in the clinch. OR...he pulls a nasty 1st round "fukk y'all, i'm making a point" ko.

Georges St. Pierre thinks (Weidman's) going to win so much that he didn't even want to plan to fight Anderson.

but he made a good point..

If that was the case, he'd say, 'F--k Weidman. I'll take that fight. I really think Weidman's going to beat him, but I don't want Weidman to beat him. I want to be the guy to beat him.

If they get in a clinch, I wouldn't be surprised if Weidman pulls guard...the clips they showed on the Countdown show of the Bongfeldt fight showed Chris going for belly to bellies out of the clinch and Bongfeldt landed on top of him and he just immediately started going for it in the scramble. He seems supremely confident on the ground....even if an Anderson Silva is on top of him.

Cannot wait....AND Cub/Siver, Edgar/Oliviera, etc. are good fights...I'm buying this one.

They got Anderson fired up with all this disrespect. That boy Weidman is in way over his head, and looked it at the weigh-ins.

Anderson is going to hurt/humiliate Weidman. Was in his head and had him rattled at the weigh ins even before the "kiss" or whatever that was. Cats tend to bow up their chests like that when they're intimidated.

Chael is talking some real spit at the post show

"People are saying Weidman due to jealousy, they just want to see Silva lose"
