Is it normal for an athlete to return to a collision sport only a year after completely shattering one of their legs?

I was thinking we'd see Silva, maybe, after about 18 months. But the few videos I've seen of him post-breakage have looked promising.

And Green and Masvidal is a swagged out fight....lol@ the taunting and stances we'll see in this fight. They both had mini-wars over the weekend though...and 2 months is a quick turnaround. And Barao probably won't be healthy for the Dillashaw rematch a month from now....and they've been working Rousey and Robbie Lawler like government mules. Zuffa don't give a fukk about these fighters, man...business is hurting and they gotta keep pumping out these fights. I'm gonna watch them all, though. :manny:

The Last of the Outlaws
TORONTO - Veteran UFC fighter Joe (Diesel) Riggs' return to the Octagon has been put on hold after accidentally shooting himself in his Arizona home.

"We were made aware that newly signed UFC competitor Joe Riggs was involved in an unfortunate accident last night," the UFC said in a statement Tuesday. "While cleaning his permitted firearm (a pistol), the gun discharged, injuring his hand and upper thigh. Riggs was transported to a nearby hospital in Arizona where he is being treated by physicians. We wish Joe a speedy recovery."

The 31-year-old Riggs, who last fought in the UFC in 2006, was slated to face welterweight Paulo Thiago on Sept. 13 on a televised card in Brasilia, Brazil.

The UFC said a replacement opponent for Thiago will be announced shortly.

Riggs (28-9-0) made his UFC debut at UFC 49 in August 2004, submitting Canadian Joe Doerksen. His UFC fight card includes a hospital brawl with Nick Diaz after the two fought at UFC 57.

I hate that one of them has to lose. Nick is one of my favorite fighters but i gotta cheer for Silva over everyone.
thats why im not pumped for the fight, i dont want either one to lose

Diaz is my fav WW and i wish he would stay in his division and go for the belt

I want to see Silva rebound and go for it one last time aswell

Diaz is basically getting fed here, hes not even a big WW

Funny thing is when Diaz wanted this fight years ago everyone laughed at the idea. But now, the state of the UFC has made this a superfight. Is this at catchweight or MW?(I doubt Silva drops to 170)

They haven't said, but I imagine at MW. Nick has fought at that weight before in Strikeforce I believe.

Hideo Tokoro has signed with Bellator. Dude was one of my favorite fighters when DREAM was popping a few years ago.

he had only 2 fights at middleweight in strikeforce, one with frank shamrock the other with scott smith :laff: i fukks wit nick but he is small for 185, i really don't see him beating anderson unless he's regressed horribly because of that leg injury. when this fight happens in jan, nick will be coming off of a 21 month layoff :dead: i hope there is a 24/7 type show for this fight.

The Shamrock fight was catchweight. Hes never officially fought at 185. Silva is going to destroy him

Phil Davis vs Glover Texeria confirmed for 179 in Rio. Davis is probably going to be cut by the end of 2015. I don't know why he keeps fighting these heavy handed strikers

cuz his striking is ugly? There is no better way to improve than on the job training. All these training camps preppin for strikers should have had some impact on his standup but hes just never goin to get it. To think he was once being talked about in the same sentence as jones :pachaha:

Even after subbing guys like Gus, I always felt he should have left the UFC and improved on his stand up in smaller orgs. Now its too late. Hes a lost cause
