Means a lot to me bro. We get so caught up in establishing our own understanding of this world man we can't do thatPhillipians 4:6-7 In nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer and petition, along with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7: And the peace of God which surpasses every man's understanding, will guard your hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus.
Amen bro same for me.Means a lot to me bro. We get so caught up in establishing our own understanding of this world man we can't do that
1. Where is the scripture to support this?
2. Slavery inherently has racial implications because 1 group is being subjected to a lower state or class.
3. God himself was racially biased and ordered killings of non-israelites including the babies.
Exhibit A: 1 Samuel 15:2-3
2. This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt.
3. Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys
Why were they order to kill these people and not told to obey them? Contradictory right?
In biblical times slavery was based off the economy and social class not race and the Bible condemns the American slave trade due to how the slaves were attained. People sold themselves as slaves when they could not pay their debts or provide for their families. In New Testament times, sometimes doctors, lawyers, and even politicians were slaves of someone else. Some people actually chose to be slaves so as to have all their needs provided for by their masters.
“Anyone who kidnaps another and either sells him or still has him when he is caught must be put to death” Exodus 21:16
context is crucial when the Bible speaks about slavery in the Old Testament
You never showed scripture to support this. You giving alot of interpolation and no scripture.
The random scripture you did quote. Is when God was given commandments to a specific group of people (Hebrews) about indentured servitude within the Hebrew social construct NOT a directive on enslavement to all people. (non-hebrews)
This is how the chapter starts off about Hebrew Indentured Servitude. Exodus 21:2
2. If you buy a Hebrew servant, he is to serve you for six years. But in the seventh year, he shall go free, without paying anything.
You right context is everything. See what you did was interpolated a text and applied a misunderstood concept.
Exodus 21:16. Under what jurisdiction is this law applied? To whom was the law given to? Who will be doing the killing? The answer to these questions completely dismantles and eradicates your American Slave Trade rhetoric. Sounds good but your understanding is misapplied.
Preachers do this alot especially with tithing.
The scripture goes on to talk about murder within the context of the Hebrew societal construct. These laws are NOT applicable to all people.
12. Anyone who strikes a person with a fatal blow is to be put to death.
13. However, if it is not done intentionally, but God lets it happen, they are to flee to a place I will designate.
14. But if anyone schemes and kills someone deliberately, that person is to be taken from my altar and put to death.
What other people had an altar for the Hebrew God where this law can be applied? These are laws specifically for 1 group. You are misapplying scripture.
Now I gave you 1 Samuel 15:3 where God ordered the genocide of non-israelites. It should be understood that murder is permmisable its just unlawful under certain pretext.
You got alot of studying to do.
I agree I want this thread to stay away from debating/disputing also as that isn't the intent. We also have to be careful using our own understanding. Regardless tho I welcome believers and non as I believe we are supposed to try to reach bothThis thread is awesome. This is why the coli needs a spiritually and Christianity forum.
I personally would like this thread to stay free from debates and arguing
Just uplifting bible verses and breaking down the word so it's understood.
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
You do know why he did that for right ?1. Where is the scripture to support this?
