It's sad we're talking about a bunch of guys 30+ as needing to return to form instead of guys in their 20s.
Yeah it's sad but the current Nadal/Djokovic/Federer also is exceptional and they are burying the current gen unfortunately. It reminds me of French football team of 1996/1998. They won the World Cup and then the Euro and they got to live off that till the 2006/2008. But during those 10 years, most of the good players that were coming up and could have gotten in the team if not for them never got any chance.
Sports are unfair like that but tennis got reaaal unfair with the big 3. Their quality is so high that the current big 3 will most likely end up as 1, 2 and 3 pushing out guys like Borg, McEnroe and Sampras who up until a couple years ago had some legitimacy being in it. The very fact that these dudes are at these levels, playing classic matches well into their 30s is mind blowing. Plus, we need to add that they all started winning super early in their careers too.
I was a Sampras stan growing up (I modeled my serve after his

) but past 30, dude was almost done at elite level. Same with McEnroe, Borg or Lendl. Agassi and Connors got to be relatively successul well into their 30s but not as high as the big 3. I mean I think all 3 at least have 5 finals in all GS
