You know how he does....gives off the "ima bout to pass out" routine and looking all dumbfounded at his box, etc etc. Then he throws the set and comes back the next set like nothing happened once he gets the lead back. Him and Rafa got that down to a science lol

I realize.

I know it can work on some juniors..they take the foot off the pedal to conserve for their next match thinking the opponent is done

But as a pro?! Idk man

To think at the time of his 1st slam, Fedal had 13 and 5 each but a decade later, hes within 3 of the record. All done in the best era to boot to, if that isnt Goat status then i dont know what is.

I will never rank him above fed :hubie:

Fed-Novak-Nadal-McEnroe-Sampras-Borg

With the final 3 being interchangeable

You cant deny the fact he was the best in the best era of tennis, that alone makes him the goat:manny: when Fed most of his majors it was a weak period.

gotta give Novak his props...I too notice the lame shyt he does and I do want Fed to win more majors but this man is at a level that is just ridiculous :whoo:

cats take their foot off the gas just a lil, and he's walking through that door and snatching the victory :wow: Thiem felt that pressure and stumbled and that's all Novak needed.

I dont think Thiem ever had more than 5 service games where Novak didn't push him. He always had Thiem under pressure to hold serve.

Amd it seems like the 7th game of every set is when his return games goes up 1000%

Not only that. After his 1st, he didnt win again for 3 whole years...so the count was actually 16-9-1 before joker took his 2nd.

yep...from the get go, Novak was on Thiem's serve only letting up when he got "tired" but even then I really only remember a couple clean service games for Thiem. Like someone noted already, the backhand up the line failed Thiem and later in the match, he got too tired to hit the inside out forehand well

Thiem should have killed off Novak injury or not but he didn't and paid the price. Novak gave him the 3rd set and got his energy back for a 4th set comeback. It's a great tactic really, once he was broken in 3rd he didn't waste much energy chasing the set, took his fluids got his energy and took the 4th. Once it went to 5th you knew he was going to get to that level to win. Novak wasn't injured he was looking tired more than anything or thiem resilience was more than he thought.

He hadn't been in a rock fight all tournament and Thiem brought him one. He definitely wasn't ready for it.
