Ppl are saying she needs to lose weight(still does) when she's dramatically in better shape since her comeback, also her mobility has been a liability however, she's also improved that, trememdously. Think it's just mental, and a combination of running into motivated, younger...fresher opponents. Tough shyt, really!

Yeah she's not explosive enough anymore to be this heavy, if she really wants that all time mark dropping 15-20 lbs would probably help

she gotta lose the weight if she wants another grandslam, she has 4 months

I've been saying this for a while now. All other athletes looking to prolong their careers do everything they can to adjust their bodies and game as they age.

Serena on the other hand looks like she put on 25 pounds :gucci:

You have to give her props for the longevity, especially for women's tennis game, but it's still frustrating to see.

All facts. I remember a couple years back Ray Lewis for the Baltimore Ravens was talking about how he had to drop 25 lbs to keep up with some of the younger guys coming into the NFL. I know when I put on some weight a while back my soccer performance suffered. Slow on the turns, slow in my cuts etc.

Serena has 4 months until the AO. If she sheds even 10 lbs she'll be in much better shape. Maybe another 5-10 by the French Open and she's in business for 24 or 25.

Her movement and footwork is just trash at this point. Patrick Mouratogliumoumoo need to be ashamed for her lack of preparedness and conditioning.

Look at when she lost Wimbledon this year in the Finals. Halep was literally running around every shot by Serena and looking like the female Nadal :whew::whew::whew:

Very true. She still has the athletic ability, smarts and skills but that extra weight is hard to drag around the court...fat or muscle.

I remember watching Taylor Townsend up against Bianca earlier in this tournament. She's in great shape but still has extra weight (muscle mainly) around the hips/legs and it made her seem slow. Like she just didn't have that next gear to chase down the tennis ball.

Serena's gotta drop 15-25 lbs....maybe even smaller than her weight during her prime. She'll still have more power than most but should focus on stamina and lateral quickness.

She has to believe still. She is still making finals, at some point she will win again.

Fed was the same, kept losing in finals or semis and people thought he was done but he broke through and eventually won a couple more.

It's not like she's losing in the 1st or 2nd round

She's 37 and a mother, let's be realistic. It'll be hard to match the young guns, let's see what she does in the off season. Next year will be her last imo.

Dudes in here talking ahout she needs to slim down to regain her speed like she aint 37....that speed from 10 years aint coming back, this is now what she is.

Less power but still more power than most and less mobile with back and shoulder strains to deal with, shes not gonna whoop anyones ass anymore.

Her only hope from here on out til she retires is she plays really well with no mistakes esp on service and needs to catch someone having an off day.She isnt going to dominate anybody anymore and with Andreescu rising her and Osaka are going to be tougher to beat for an aging star...we may have seen her last grand slam opportunity...

I didt like her deamenor at all today until she came back in the 2nd set she was crying and look like she gave up because she couldnt over power her opponent and she clearly cant rely on her serve anymore...
