Those three are on another level of mental toughness and competitiveness.

Medvedev is the best of the next generation of guys and the way he folded/choked against Nadal in the AO Final was embarrassing. Nadal was ready to roll over and go home and he completely locked up for two and a half straight sets. Never seen anything quite like that although the Tsitipas FO meltdown was really bad too. He didn't recover from that until this year's AO.

Any Slams these guys win (Med, Zverev, Thiem, Sissy, Tini...feel like I'm forgetting one or two...I don't count Alvarez and FAA with them) I'm not gonna view the same.

I have to disagree. Its something a bit deeper than that.

Djokovic today has more stamina and endurance than he did when he was 20. This was a guy who quit a grand slam because it was too hot. Then in 2011, he turns to a returning cyborg with unlimited stamina

Nadal's body was supposed to be breaking down since he was 24, yet here he is at age 35 and he looks fresher in the 4th and 5th set of Australian Open Grand slam than 24 year old Medvedev

Don't get me started on Federer's absurd 2017 season. A guy who was an afterthought as a serious grandslam winner became resurrected again in his mid-30s

Tennis is the most physically grinding sport and those guys are on some very high level gear. There's been rumours for years. Not saying they aren't extemely talented but that'll explain their absurd dominance in the most sensible way, not mental toughness and competitiveness.

If that was the case, you don't think these other guys would be doping too? Medvedev is Russian...who's had a state sponsored doping program for decades. :dead:

You have to have your foot in the door 1st and build your brand before doing it. Medvedev doesnt have the team or resources to afford the high tech stuff. Also, if Meddy gets busted, the ATP wont protect him and give him a silent ban. And also Medvedev is not just as talented as 3 of them. Now if someone like Shapovalov or Kygrios was using, they could do be very very very scary

Resources? He's made over $23 million in his career.

it definitely feels like this next gen is mentally tougher than the mid to late 20s gen

gonna have to see them in the bright lights against the Big 3 first

this Alcaraz/Nadal match :wow:

feels like it's a matter of time before Rafa applies pressure on Carlos' serve especially with the wind dying down a bit

How was his serve looking today?

well it was inconsistent but to be fair he was playing Rafa and the 2nd set was played in a tornado

showed great signs of what it could be to start the 3rd set where I think he dropped just 1 point on it in 3 service games

but after a b2b long games where he couldn't break Rafa you could see the energy and belief had kind of eroded especially with some of the net volleys Rafa was making

Nadal looks like he may have the French Open on lock. Hopefully Djokovic returns to spice things up.

idk bruh. He’ll make the finals as I think he will catch Med for the number 2 ranking before the FO and not have to see Novak before the finals but he better not overplay and wear himself down. Nadal won’t do it but he needs to skip Madrid.

i thinnnnk Thiem will be back for the clay season too

yea...I think we were all surprised he was doing a full clay season

for preservation purposes...he really should cut it down especially with the peck added to the foot injury and unlike previous years, he has racked up a ton of points to start this season already.
